Is this the negative battery cable in the trunk? 2015 m235i

Hi guys,

I'm trying to disconnect the ground negative battery in the trunk of my 2015 m235i. The battery is not stationed on the right hand side of the trunk but rather where flat tires are at.

Anyways, I tried disconnecting the black cable that my finger's pointing at using a 10mm socket, and it created sparks as I was pulling the cable...

To my knowledge, ground isn't supposed to create sparks as it's not "hot", am I getting the correct ground cable?

Can anyone please tell me where the ground cable is?

Unlawful use of M3/M4

Not sure if the General Forum is the best place to share this, but I just thought everyone should be aware of what I came across.

There seems to be a lot of wrongful usage of the images we post of our vehicles. One good example is this...

I was browsing eBay for M3 parts & accessories and randomly came across this link. It's from an eBay seller that claims to sell carbon fiber trunk lid spoilers. Funny think is that Azurite Black Metallic M3 in the pic does not have a carbon trunk spoiler on it. In fact, the M3 in the picture is from a post by Samb95 that can be viewed here.

I just want everyone to be aware that the images you post may be used by others in an unlawful way. Be diligent in your posts and take the extra measure to remove/block out your license plate number too. Watermarks do help, but as you can see in this scenario the image was cropped to remove the watermark.

Oh, and Samb95 thank you for sharing images of your ride. I absolutely love the combo and stared/scrolled your thread for countless hours, debating between Azurite Black Metallic or Laguna Seca Blue.

I've attached images below for reference.

F26 X4 End of Production, confirmation?

All

Im planning on ordering a F26 X4 M40 for the wife, however according to this post the F26 will end production in 2018?

http://ift.tt/1Zh6OqO

This would make sense, so that BMW can line up the G01 X3 / G02 X4 launch in 2017/2018 sine they would share the same chassis.

Can someone confirm, I certainly wont order the F26 X4 M40 for the wife if this is the case.

Danke

I saw a "puff" piece on the L16 Camera on the morning's news, the other day. I'm curious if anyone has heard of or knows of this new camera... ? From what I understand it has 16 different lens in a small smart phone-type packaging.

PSA: Microsoft/Xbox Users

Guys, do yourselves a favor and setup the 2-step verification feature on your Microsoft accounts, if you haven't already.

My account (and PayPal account) was compromised on Tuesday night, nothing came of it. I changed all of my passwords and moved on.
Thursday night it was breached again. This time, the guy purchased $800 worth of in-game currency - charged to my PayPal account. Had I setup the 2-step feature, this likely wouldn't have happened.

TL;DR: There are plenty of scammers and fat kids out there. None of us are safe. Set up risk mitigation measures!

P.S. The asshole left everything he purchased on my account...:confused2

Acura NSX priced in Lambo Huracan/McLaren 570S/Porsche GT3 territory loaded. Mistake?

Thoughts?

http://ift.tt/1mcJ9cs

I have a feeling this car was doomed from the start. I would have any and all of those cars, and a few more before I went to look at an NSX. At that price, I would almost definitely buy a first gen NSX before buying the new one...

Dieselgate Researchers Target BMW and Mercedes

http://ift.tt/1lWEEDi

"A team of scientists led by chemist Axel Friedrich presented the results of a new emissions analysis earlier this week in Berlin. The data apparently demonstrates that Mercedes and BMW also manipulated vehicle emissions values in order to meet legal limits, just as Volkswagen admitted doing."

The article is light on details as to what BMW may have been doing to manipulate test results, but I'm sure we'll learn more as time goes on. It would appear that the plot thickens.

Replacing my non run flats...

Hello guys,

I have a 2012 X3 2.0d XDrive automatic. Its original non run flat tyres, Pirelli P7's, are completely worn (after 29.000 km) and it's time i got some new ones.

I don't really know much about tyres, but compared to my previous (non BMW) car, i felt that the P7 tires should last a bit longer than 29.000km. Otherwise, i feel that the car handles very well and the tyres are not loud or anything.

I asked a friend who is more knowledgeable about cars than i am, and he suggested i go for Hankook RA33. Some reviews i found online suggest this is a good tyre.

I went to a tyre shop this morning, and the guy there told me that if i want the hankooks he would have no problem installing them, but added that for a car like the X3, he would strongly recommend i use the same tyres as those that the manufacturer chose for it, i.e. the Pirelli P7s. He said that if i insisted on the Hankooks he would first check with BMW if they are appropriate for the X3.

He even said that in some cases, if the car will not "like" the tyres, its computer puts it into a "halfway or cut-down" mode and does not perform properly until the "bad tyres are changed". I think this sounds like fiction...

His price for the Pirelli P7's is 20 euros per tyre cheaper than the BMW dealer price, so i am wondering if i should go elsewhere, or just go to the BMW dealer and have them install new P7's (my annual service is due anyway).

Any ideas, or feedback? Has anybody opted for other non run flats?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Iam

My experience with BMW folks contradicts the stereotype

BMW drivers seem to have a bad reputation. Why is that?

During the past few months, I've met several of you in person, chatted with some of you on the forum, and attended a couple of meets. Everybody I've met has been friendly, respectful and supportive. My view of the world has improved ever so slightly because of you.

I'd like to thank you guys for helping me with the ordering, leasing advice, order tracking, mod experiences, general helpfulness and genuine friendliness.

You all have proven the reputation to be baseless. I think if I ever need a favor, I'm looking for a guy (or girl) who drives a BMW because you guys are awesome.

Cheers

BMW front end clip - office desks(!)...

A friend of mine(Danke Flo!) showed me this cool FB page. Seems there is an indy BMW repair shop in Bucharest, Romania - that has some very special office desks!

They took the front end clips of various BMW models and made desks(!) out of them! It's brilliant! :cool!:

This shop looks small but its obvious they have a lot of LOVE for BMW's. They also have some cool engine Assembly pictures on their FB page.

Take a look....

Buying a car with low mileage?

I am looking to buy a car with a low mileage and is in a very good condition. I am biased towards the 320d although I might consider other models if it suits my budget. But someone told me that a car that is well run is a better choice since a car that has a low mileage would have been standing still most of the time. This could also mean that there might be an issue with the car due to which it has not been driven much.

New 2016 X3 with bad strut!

My new X3 is now eight days old and has a bad left front strut! I figured this out after just four days when driving of a smallish speed bump would result in a loud BANG. I took it in to my dealer last Tuesday where it now sits waiting for a new strut.

It is beyond belief that a $60K+ car (after taxes) can have this kind of problem. I expected that a BMW wouldn't be as maintenance free as a Japanese, but nothing like this. What's worse is that I can't help thinking, "What the #@#$ else is broken!?!" Are ALL struts bad? Has the car been damaged? Did I screw up by buying BMW?

The only good news is that they gave me an X4 to drive while I'm waiting. It's a decent car, but I bought the X3 because it fits my needs.

In any case, this is nuts!

Dan.

Battle of the Greys: BMW's M3 in Mineral vs. Mercedes-Benz's CLS in Steel [PHOTOS]

Hey guys... so this is probably stressing me out way more than it should be, but my dad just picked up a '16 loaded CLS400 in Steel Grey Metallic. I currently have a '15 BMW M3 in Mineral Grey. The colors are VERY similar... so, with both cars pretty clean, I found some sunlight (and some shade) in my neighborhood and snapped some photos of the cars together.

My consensus: the BMW Mineral is a tad lighter and more 'grey' while the Mercedes Steel is a liiiiiitle bit darker and 'bluer' in the LIGHT.
That being said... it is VERY difficult to tell the difference when the cars are in the shade.

Then again... in some of the photos, depending on light, it's actually the Steel Grey that looks lighter than the Mineral Grey :mad0259: ... I will stick with the consensus that the Mercedes Steel is more 'blue' while the BMW Mineral is more 'grey'

Let me know what you think and which grey you like better!... otherwise, just enjoy the photos :party0030:

I have to say, I'm biased and LOVE my Mineral... but the Steel Grey really does bring out the lines on the CLS!

[Also, if this belongs in a different forum, such as "General Automotive (non-BMW) Talk + Photos/Videos" or "M3 / M4 Photos and Videos," can a mod please move it? I posted her since Mineral Grey is a BMW color that is NOT an ///M exclusive.]

I wanted to share some of our non BMW content here and also provide when I can "Behind the Scenes" (BTS) insight. Hopefully a few of you find it valuable!

We debuted this car at Essen a couple of weeks ago. It is a matte satin wrap, similar to our old 458 in Rosso Fuoco Opaco. It also features some a Capristo exhaust.

Obviously with this being one of the first 488's modified, we wanted to debut the car at Essen, where it did receive great praise.
