Does anyone else have a very light static/white noise sound coming from the tweeters and such when in the car. Mine does, no matter if car is on or off and also when the radio/system is turned off... the sound doesnt seem to get louder when I turn volume up, its just continuously there...I cannot figure what is going on and wanted to see if this is normal as I didn't notice really before...

So I DO have this question out to my accountant but he's out of office for a few days so I figured I'd see if anyone here has had a similar situation and what they did.
So based on our tax return, my wife and I were supposed to get $2k~ish back. Our accountant failed to check the direct deposit box this year so we ended up getting a paper check. The check is for nearly $6k. WTF?! :confused2
I mean, cool. I like $$$. But I'm scared to cash the damn thing. It would be just like the IRS to send us too much, catch the error 3 years later, then charge us interest on the overage.
Anyone ever have this happen and what did you do?

Whenever I sit in the car I play music first, if I start playing a song from my playlist and then switch to a song that I search (Apple music) it looks like iDrive can't figure out what song is playing and just mutes it. I tried forgetting and adding again, deleting bmw connected app? But no luck... the song still says it's playing on my phone but no audio. When I plug aux it works fine so it's just the Bluetooth connection. I'm on iOS 14.
Also my USB cable when I plug it into my phone it always flashes on and off, I tried different cables but it keeps happening so I can't even plug my phone in with USB

Getting old, want different vehicle
I'm near 50 years old I think it's time I've moved on to something more comfortable. I currently drive a 2015 m235xi and have been very happy with the car but I'm finding that it's time to move on to something more comfortable. I've owned 15+ cars in my life. Infiniti M56, Nissan 350z, G35, Acura Integra, 3 Honda Sedans, 2 Honda SUV's, GTI, MS3, etc. After going on a road trip with my wifes 2018 VW Tiquan, I decided that it was time to make a change to something easier to get in and out, more comfortable, etc.
I'm not going to get a loan so I need to limit myself to $50k but would be happy to spend less. This is assuming that my m235 will bring at least $20k trade in. Here are a few I've thought about:
Tesla Model Y=Love everything about it except build quality. I don't think I'm ready to deal with the build quality. Also top of my price range. Maybe wait until build quality gets better? How long will that take?
CX-5 Turbo=This would be nice because of the lower price and the tech is getting updated for 2021. The negative is that we would have two similar sized vehicles.
Kia Telluride=This would be hitting the top of my range. Since we have no kids, we'd never need the 3rd row. I like the look and the interior is pretty great for the $$. They're a bitch to find right now so you're not going to get any deals. I've never owned a Korean Vehicle.
CPO=I've went the CPO route quite a few times and have always been happy. The M56 I bought I got for nearly 1/2 the price with only 20k miles. SUV's don't seem to have the huge drop in resale like big luxury sedans. I also want something with good tech in it.
Honda Accord=Haven't driven one in a decade but they've always been good cars. Loaded I could get one for $35k new and drive it to the wheels fall off. With that said, I never "drive it to the wheels fall of". Would I get bored with it?

X3M external temperature sensor heat soak
can anybody point me at the location of the external temperature sensor on the X3M as mine seems to be suffering heat soak when the car is parked after a drive.

Just thought this worth sharing in case others are affected, and they wish to check if it applies to their cars.
Booked my 2019 20i M Sport in for it's 1st service today and was advised by the service department that two 'Open Technical Enhancements' would also be performed on my car whilst it was in:
1. Check Rear Head Restraints - queried this but Service Advisor didn't know what this was about. I confess I can't imagine what could be wrong - they look and work fine as errr, head restraints!
2. Rework Engine Wiring Harness - this one sounds both self explanatory and a little more serious. I certainly haven't noticed anything and car drives fine. Again, the Service Advisor didn't know and just said it was on the system and that they would need the car all day so this work and the service could be carried out.
So, not recalls as such but obviously work BMW feels my car requires. I can't imagine it will be just me and wonder if others have had this done too?

It is exactly 18 months old.
My question is this: the dealer is supplying the car with a 12 month approved used warranty (bmw dealer) - is this in addition to the 3 years manufactures warranty - making it 4 years of cover or is it to run in line with the existing manufacturers warranty, meaning at the end of 3 years I will have no warranty cover?
Any help appreciated.

2018 BMW X3 with standard rear brakes
I replaced rear brake pads, didn't change rear sensor yet. But I put the two wires together to close the circuit. (Faking it). Now I can't figure out how to reset the warning lights off my cluster. Does anyone know how to do that or do I need the dealer to reset the light?

BMW X4 M40d 2019 - Key signal
Hi
Do the 2019 X4s in the UK have keys that have their signal go dead after a couple of minutes of no movement.
Am trying to figure out if the UK vehicles have these keys and therefore dont transmit the RFID signal to thief's.
I have comfort access on the vehicle too and a the display key also if that helps with answering

I was wondering if anyone has attempted to switch out one of the shitty clusters the 2018 model came with, to the full screen live version? Ive had issues with my cluster for the longest time (going off center, going dim and flashing) and BMW just keeps "reprogramming" it telling me it will work this time...... to which it does not. They finally after having my car for a full well text me saying "Sorry, they said theres nothing more they can do to fix it other than reprogramming it" which seems bogus.
Im at my wits end and getting ready to just get a new X3 to resolve the issue.

My situation - I currently took a lease takeover from a colleague (who actually lost his job due to COVID) with only 14 more months left on the lease return.
BMW X3.
The current tire dimensions (performance summer) are -
245/45ZR20 103W 8Jx20 ET27
275/40ZR20 106W 9.5Jx20 ET43
Every shop I'm checking, people are quoting around 2000 CAD for 18" or 2300CAD for 19" Winter package.
(Honestly, we as a couple cannot afford to spend that amount of money now for a car which will be with just for just 1 season of winter).
I've couple of questions and would really need some guidance -
1. Can I just purchase used tires of 245 45 20 or 245 50 20 and put on the existing rims through Costco or any tire shop nearby?
If so, what are the risks I need to consider?
2. For the above dimensions of RIMs, what are the other tire size options for me to search in either Facebook market place or somewhere else?
3. Is it okay to drive the BMW X3 on 20" winter tires? or should I go down to 18"?

2021 X3M comp good lease deal ?

Hey I was wondering what’s a good deal for a 2021 X3M Comp and executive package . MSRP is $83,100. I had it ordered and its in production right now but I feel like the deal I was proposed wasn’t all that good . $1098 a month and 3k down . Salesman said we will run the #s again once the car arrives. Located in NY
Brake fluid reminder after match amp install- disconnect battery
After I disconnected my battery (negative terminal) to install the match up 7bmw amp, my trip settings were reset and my brake fluid change reminder said it was overdue since 2001.... all the other service reminders are correct... furthermore my 3-d view on the connected app does not work now... anyone know what happened or is the issue??

I have a trouble with my left tail light, I don´t know where this have to change or I have to change all the piece, as you see inside the car trunk the LEDs do not work
I already opened the part of the lights but it only have the bulbs of the fog light and the reverse light there is no way I can see where to change the Leds.

I already opened the part of the lights but it only have the bulbs of the fog light and the reverse light there is no way I can see where to change the Leds.

I am near lease end 11/20 , and that seems to be an option moving forward. My concerns are these cars are tossed around by multiple drivers for up to 4K miles. Am considering 330i or X1 awd.

I just heard there is software limit to how many times launch control will work for the life if the vehicle (100 launches total).
Is this correct?

iDrive 6 resetting
Well, not really resetting, but twice now this week it has just turned itself off for about 20 seconds or so and then come back on again, maybe with a different radio station selected.

As one of the most indecisive people in the world, I have had a very annoying dilemma between what my next BMW should be with my ultimate decision changing every other hour it seems. So... I decided to turn to some fellow enthusiasts for some outside opinions.
A little background information for my current debacle: I currently have a 2015 428i with the M-Sport package and have absolutely loved the car but it is starting to just not be enough for me and my desire to have another manual kills me every time I get in the car. Ultimately I intend on getting the new 2021 M4 in a manual but plan to wait and get a used one sometime early-mid 2022 but want something to hold me over till then-
Arises my debacle. The two best options I have picked out are a 2016 or so 435i M-Sport or an E92 M3, both manuals. I am leaning slightly towards the E92 in general because I am in love with the naturally aspirated V8 in it but the sense of interior downgrade from my current car is holding me back. I love newer interiors and feel like I would be dissatisfied with the "downgrade" of sorts. The interior is important for me because after all that is where you do the driving from. The 435 would obviously have the same interior as my current car.
Sure, I admit this is a sort of stupid debacle but I just need some other opinions to come to a final decision. Let me know what ya'll would do!

Difficult finding a CPO X535d?
Is it just me or is it difficult to find these cars certified? Even on the BMW CPO website there's no longer an option for trim or milage making it virtually impossible to locate one without searching dealer to dealer.

Body Shop recommendations NYC
My car was parked in my reserved spot, 20 feet from any car that could potentially ding me yet a woman, albeit an honest person for NYC, managed to back into the drivers side front fender. She could have just driven off but my dash cam in parking mode caught it just in case.

Hitch cover brake light - no errors
Tapped into pin #4 on the "preparation plug" thats in the rear compartment near fuses, which is pin #2 at the smaller plug on the trailer module (AAG control unit)
No bulb errors, and it does NOT put the car into "trailer mode".
You gotta drop the bumper cover to pull the wire through. Grounded it at Z10 side of the rear fuse compartment.

Question about DSC Off 4WD Sport
Was trying some launches. Seems like when holding the DSC button, it defaults to standard 4WD when DSC flips off. I see that in M settings you can program DSC off with 4WD Sport, but is there any way to do this manually without dedicating an M button to it?
Also, what’s better for launch...4WD or 4WD Sport?

Spotify and Remote 3D view disappeared...
This just happened in the past few days. I have a 2020 X4 M40 (G02).
I have the 3/2020 update (which gave me Spotify and resolved some Remote 3D view issues). I got the update in April and everything has worked fine since then.
Everything was working fine last week and now Spotify has disappeared in the Media section and Remote 3D view has disappeared from the Connected App (I run Android on a Samsung Galaxy S10).
I've taken a remote 3D picture using the Connected App as recently as last week (and it shows that a picture was taken in the History section of the Connected App) but there's no way to see it in the app.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior?
Could this be related to Spotify not being supported in IDrive 6?
Thoughts or ideas appreciated. If it doesn't come back in the next few days I will contact service.

How to update?
After creating a new ConnectedDrive account since purchasing my 2015 x3, I placed an order for the RTTI and ConnectedDrive services (still not really clear on what that is, exactly as the website is very lacking in details - I know what the RTTI is, though). Anyhow, it's been over 24 hours and I have not seen traffic information show up on the nav. There were no instructions on what I should do. I checked the nav and traffic info is checked. Am I supposed to update in idrive somewhere? Also, can anyone shed more detailed light on what I'm actually getting or enabling with the $50/yr subscription to ConnectedDrive? Thanks!

I'm currently looking at my options for replacement.
It looks like aftermarket glass is around $500. (I have HUD)
(they are saying its OEM without the bow logo...same manufacturer :rolleyes:)
I would like oem glass and the service dept. quoted me around $1300 just for parts. Sensors, seals etc.
Should I use my insurance $500 deductible and try to get oem replacement?
Should I try to buy the BMW Ultimate Protection Service?
What did you guys do for your cracked windshield?

Anybody tow a trailer with electric brakes using the BMW trailer hitch.
It's not clear to me whether the electric trailer connections just work the trailer lights or they work the lights and electric brakes.

Guess the repair $ (deer smack)
Hit a deer the other night at 25mph. No visible damage other than a small chip on the drivers side bumper and drivers headlight gasket is pushed in slightly. I did notice my drivers fog light is pointing upwards when turned on. Cant tell any damage or wrong with it in the daylight. But the drivers fog now blinds people at night. What do yall think its going to cost to fix? Bringing it to the dealer on Monday to see.

Wheel is new. It originally came with the trim piece that goes below the airbag, that is not available. Wheel has a slight flat bottom, and feels amazing. Like all of the M Performance steering wheels, the wheel is not heated.
The wheel MSRP's at $1,000 or so. Is available for a little over $800 from forum sponsors. Searching the part number does return some sellers for a little over $600, but they picture the 3 series wheel, not the X3/X4 wheel, so not 100% sure on those. Since it doesn't have the trim piece, I think $475 shipped is fair, but I'm open to discussing. Let me know anyone wants additional pictures or if there are any questions.
