Jon Olsson's Audi RS6 DTM

mardi 31 mars 2015

You probably know this guy already who put ski boxes on his Gallardo, murcielago and Audi R8, well now he gave his RS6 a make over.

So what do you think? I kind of like it even though I'm not into cars extreme like that. Nothing I would like to have, I think the RS6 Avant is perfect as it is from the factory.

Trying to come up with a name for a Event/Entertainment Company. Something very catchy but professional. The event company will put on medium size concerts and other private events. It isn't so easy.. If you have some free time and want to help me, i'd greatly appreciate it. If there is a designer in here that could come up with a logo, I would be willing to pay them to help.

Several Names I like but are taken..

How bad was the first year of your son / daughter being born?

Sort of tied to the "why do people want to have kids" thread I guess, but serious question - is the first year always rough (and I mean really rough) when your son or daughter was born?

Does it really get any better?

Because honestly, it's hell right now, and he's five months. I really want to believe it will get better, but I don't know. He's not eating (very well), was losing weight (now he's sort of stabilized a little, but not gaining as he should). His feeding is at best chaotic - if you allow his arms to be free he'll fight to get the bottle away from him...if you sort of swaddle him, he'll take an ounce or two before fighting...but he almost always fights. But once you get him all calmed down, rock him, sing to him, he'll relax, and generally take the rest of the bottle asleep (dream feeding) because he isn't aware he's feeding.

He's been to the pediatrician numerous times, they don't know why he's not hungry, so they're no help. Its been so stressful on our marriage, my wife and I are constantly at each other's throats over this feeding issue.

I'm so frustrated. I'm almost at the point of dropping him off at the hospital so that someone else can feed him for a few days and see that something is wrong...and actually do something about it. Because no one seems to care.

The only reason he looks halfway healthy is that we sing him to sleep and get him to take the rest of the bottle, its not a long term solution. But I can't just let him not eat either and tank, that's just not right.

And we've tried everything (different bottles, numerous formulas including hypoallergenic expensive stuff, different nipples, everything we can think of).

I just want to know it gets better.

How is everyone doing?

Please advise.

Bowe Bergdah... Victim or Villain

lundi 30 mars 2015

How can anyone think victim... Well according to the un-baised reporters over at the the NY times and the rest of their ilk in an aricle from Friday, he's a victim. A victim of his country. They've already held their trial in house and have deemed he's innocent and DESERVES to be released with an honorable discharge so that he, and I quote, "has a chance to live his life and be able to get the care he needs in the future and so that the poor guy doesn't have any issues with getting a job in the future and move on with his life." Tell that to those who died looking for him...

Now my take... One bullet, done. Why pay to house, care and feed this maggot for one more day. He clearly left his post, fact. He was dis-enchanted with the war and wrote back to his parents making clear his contempt for his country, he often spoke to his platoon mates of the same issues, fact. He tried making contact with the terrorists he swore to defeat and in the end was sold to them like the dog he is, fact. While searching for said POS many troops lost their lives and more wounded, fact. He was used by obama as a pawn to see another campaign promised realized in a horrible trade for 5 of the worst terrorist in GB, fact. He was praised by the obama admin. as being someone who served with honor and distinction, fact. That one actually makes my stomach turn...

So with all those facts, the libs still see him as a victim, go figure. I only hope that they had hearts and could look into the eyes of the family members who died because of his actions and say what they have to say with a straight face. If they could do that it only confirms my theory they have no soul and are so deranged they can't see what they write is just utter nonsense. Forget politics for one second, these people can't see the difference from right or wrong. Then to top it off obama has a huge ceremony touting what a great deal he made when many other options were on the table that didn't involve any prisoner swap. Oh and don't forget, he had to act unilaterally without any involmemt with Congress because he was on his death bed and they just had to get in there and rescue the hero.

Allah must have performed a miracle the night before because he sure seemed ok when I saw him smiling/laughing in the truck while talking with his "captors" and walking to the chopper. Yet, obama or State couldn't lift a finger to make a phone call while Sgt. Tamoresse sat in a Mexican shit hole for an honest mistake. For a real American hero a phone call was to much work yet brokering a multi national deal to release and then monitor those 5 animals was no problem... Priorities.

So what do you guys think?

A film where the primary suspect dies in a car accident at the end

Hi All,

I have spent several hours searching online, for a film I saw on TV about 5 years ago. I cannot find it though. I wanted to know if this sounds familiar to you - plot / notable points :

A murder or abduction theme, set in a rural location in the US.

A junior detective, or amateur sleuth, believe they know who the murderer / abductor is. They lay a honey trap to catch the person that they suspect. However, the finale of the film, is that the guy never pitches up, even though the perfect trap has been set.

Then we see a truck in a ditch, or some sort of wreck, where the murderer / abductor has been killed in some random accident. Thus the sleuth / detective is never proved correct in their theory, even though we, as the audience, know that they are correct in their assumptions and suspicion.

I am pretty sure the film was made within the last 20 years.

I cannot remember who the actors were, nor have any idea as to the title of the film. I think I saw it late one evening and probably only saw the latter half of the film.

If you recoginze this ... I would be grateful to know the name of the film.

Cheers ...

Basel 2015

dimanche 29 mars 2015

For folks who don't know, Basel is the watch industry's annual consumer oriented trade show. It follows the SIHH watch industry business oriented trade show.

I'm not too big a follower of either because there are enough existing watches that I want and won't have time or money to buy. Even so, I like to keep an eye open to see what, if anything, new comes along that might be compelling enough to displace something near the top of my "buy this next list."

This year's Basel has one watch that might be, and surprisingly it's a Rolex. Now the surprising part isn't because Rolex don't put forth routinely with something each year, but rather because this year, for the first time in 50 years, Rolex introduced a watch having an entirely new movement. (http://ift.tt/19lIY8a) It's currently being offered in the DayDate models. I don't know if it'll show up in others or when. (http://ift.tt/19lIY8h)

Rolex also introduced a new Oyster Perpetual that is priced quite close to where the now gone Air King was. (http://ift.tt/1a9taGJ)

...And as if the Submariner needed to get sportier, Rolex has issued essentially that, and called it a Yachtmaster. (http://ift.tt/19lIY8k) I have to admit, this watch looks cool as can be.

Other coolness introduced at Basel...

Sinn EZM 7 Limited Edition (http://ift.tt/19lIYoJ)

Eterna Super Kon Tiki 2015

Omega Globemaster -- Holy "Pie Pan," Batman! LOL (http://ift.tt/1a9taX3)

Frederic Jouvenot Sin

And in other news...

Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award Limited Edition (Omega aren't afraid to use a lot of letters when naming their models...LOL) (http://ift.tt/19lIYoT)

Omega White Side of the Moon

Omega Dark Side of the Moon variants

So unfortunately, so far, all I've heard of coming out of Basel this year is on the "not cheap" to "downright expensive" side of things. Hopefully more modestly priced stuff will make its way to the surface eventually....

All the best.

Wheel offset for 2009 X3? What are the ranges

Ive done some searching around the forums and on the web although I cannot seem to get a solid answer to my question.

Im looking at buying another set of rims for my X3 and want to keep the 17 x 8 dimensions like stock (since I have a pretty new set of tires that I can put on and avoid buying new tires should I go with a different size rim).

The question I have been searching for is what are the ranges of offset appropriate for our vehicles? I know the stock wheels have an offset of 46mm.

Most aftermarket wheels are in the 35mm et range and Im concerned about two aspects:

1) Will the increased offset affect handling and wear characteristics on other components of the suspension (that's an increase of 11mm outboard from the stock wheel)

2) Will the shift in offset push the wheel out to the edge of the car that it looks funny?

I dont mind a few mm off in offset since the effects would probably be marginal but with that much increase I suspect something will give? Id be ok with a 40 mm offset but who thinks 35et is acceptable because I can tell you..... the world of aftermarket wheels favor the lower offsets.

Thanks for any info.

M3 sighting on SNL Sketch 3-28-15!

I hardly ever watch SNL when it is on live , but I am right now (not for long, time for bed lol) ...Anyways there was a fairly funny fake TV ad for Pep Boys that had an e90 M3 on a lift in the background, and what looked like an Akra exhaust.

Yes, I am that big of a nerd that I not only recognize a beloved M3 in a brief walk on part in a tv show, but also the aftermarket mufflers it had:lol:

Discounts on ordering an new X5

I should be going into a BMW dealership or 2 in the next couple weeks to order a new X5 xDrive 35i. My configuration will be around $70k msrp. What type of discount would be considered solid?

4%, 5%, 7%, 10%?

Also, I do not know anyone who is a BMW employee. I think there is a BMW friends and family plan? What % is that? Maybe I will try to dig deeper into my friends

What did you see when you ordered yours?

Thanks in advance!
