We had typewriters, pens/pencils and paper. LOL
Perhaps it's just me, but I think it crazy that for all the time savings and content availability the Internet provides, the expectations placed on high school and college students haven't really increased.
There are myriad techniques that allow individuals to very rapidly perform math operations and to read very quickly. For example:

- http://ift.tt/1T6vmmI -- I saw parts of this -- factoring -- and wondered if it's really probable that most people don't generally do math operations this way. I know that everyone by the eighth grade has been taught factoring. Do they not in turn use the skill after having been taught it?
