e93 convertible not opening

Hi everyone. Happy belated thanksgiving to you and your family. So, my convertible top just suddenly stopped working. It unlocks but the trunk don't open up and the roof don't retrack back. Anyone here had experience this? I have the easy care state care warranty plan, I hope they cover this. Please any input is greatly appreciate it.

So last night I was causally browsing through forums and posted on the thread "anyone not have any 335i problems" saying my car has been fbo for a year now and no problems. This morning I go get ready for work try unlock my car, nothing happens.. Strange, must be a dead key fob. I go and switch key fobs still nothing. so i take out the key from the key fob and manually open the door to see my hazard lights button flashing continuously, cant turn car on at all and damn car wont give me my key back. So i did some searching online and this guy had the exact same problem and said it was due to a faulty alarm. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=749198



So.. my question would be, the alarm will most likely stop once the battery is dead. If i replace the battery, will my car still be going crazy or is the alarm system going to reset?

How does BMW prevent rollover??

Guys,



Does anyone know what BMW does to help prevent an imminent rollover? For example, Porsche will apply braking to the front outside wheel to start it sliding and thus prevent the vehicle going up on two wheels. Does the X5 have any such mechanism??

I just had the car fully detailed with paint correction and then coated with Cquartz in July 2014. I have not even driven the car 500 miles since this was done. The car has basically been in storage since June 2014 and I just drive it enough to keep the batter charged up. This is a wonderful car and I imagine I will regret selling. Does anyone know if the MULF box on a Mini Cooper S is the same as in my 335i 2007?

My experience with smoked reflectors. . .

Like many of you I was none to fond of the orange reflectors we have in our front bumper, so my first attempt to alter the look was to buy the smoked overlays. While they looked okay, they had an issue with the Arizona heat and would not stay affixed.



Not wanting to spend $50 or so for the replacement smoked reflectors from the more reputable suppliers, I decided to order some through eBay for around $20. Keeping in mind I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, I simply could not imagine there could that much difference in quality for a simple reflector... but I was wrong.



The eBay reflectors, aside from not fitting snug into the opening had a very poor adhesive backing and despite the fact I cleaned the back of the bumper very well they kept partially popping out. So a few weeks ago, I did what I should have done in the first place and I ordered smoked reflectors from Bimmian.com. The fit, the finish, and the adhesive backing of these reflectors are far superior to the cheaper version I ordered from eBay, and I would say the quality even rivals that OEM.



So the moral of this store is, my $50 reflectors have now cost me $88, party on! :thumbsup:

Parking assist

I know this has been discussed..but I have read some good things on this and was wondering why anyone wouldn't order it since it is only a few bucks more per month in a lease...and if it in fact can help save the curb rash from destroying our wheels,...why not? Any thought s on those that have it?

M4 Factory dimples in rear bumper:

I believe BMW has remedied the issue, but on some of the earlier production, I've noticed dimples right where the rear bumper meets the rear fender.



The dimples are on the rear bumper, on both sides of the car, maybe a few inches from the tire. Anyone else noticed this?

steering wheel vibration over 70 E93

Hi all -



Quick Turkey Day inquiry. :)



My brother has a E93 that is getting steering vibration at highway speeds over 70 MPH. The dealer he took his car back to replaced a wheel which was bent and test drove and ignored the vibration which was till there (although a little less). He's obviously going to take the car to another place but wanted to see what you all thought the issue could be so we can help guide the diagnosis.

Found a thread on bimmerfest where the driver said he was shocked at the power difference when he removed his JB4 for service. Wouldn't it feel the same as it does every morning for the first 8 minutes until the engine oil hits 160°F and the tune kicks in? Am I missing something?

Advice Please - Tyres

Hi All,



I am considering to move away from my current runn-flats to non run-flats. My current tyres are as follows:-



Front : 225/35 R19

Rear : 255/30 R19



1 of my rear tyres is consistently loosing pressure and I have had a slight noise coming from the car for over a year when I exceed speeds of 60mph. The noise sounds like a humming sound and I think it has something to do with my tyres. I have been looking to sell my car, but have not been able to find a suitable replacement yet and as such may need to hang onto it for a while longer.



Does anyone have any recommendations on what tyres I should replace my existing ones with if I was to go to non-rft all the way round? Any places in Leicester that can be recommended?

I haven't really been following the story until a few days ago. Since the verdict came out yesterday, all I have been seeing and hearing about are protests, oftentimes violent.



Even in cities like Oakland here in the Bay Area, people are looting and breaking and entering businesses. It is so stupid in my opinion. I mean, I get that people are angry. But really? This happened in a different state. Why do people feel the need to start trashing stuff at home?



I just saw on TV people breaking into a Subway, walking on highways, and light bonfires in the middle of streets. I don't mean to sound ignorant but why are black people always portrayed so badly by the media? I don't see any other races acting violently. I feel like there is a historical hatred between blacks and whites (perhaps due to slavery?).



I saw an episode of Band of Brothers today. The episode showed how badly the Jews were being treated in concentration camps. What happened to them was a lot worse than slavery but I don't think the Jewish people were ever violent. So what the heck is going on here?



Sorry for the vent. It just makes me wonder every time I see protests and looting going on whenever an event involving a black person is involved.

Rubber mounting pieces on N54 water pump

Hi all,



I was working on the thermostat & water pump on my 335i yesterday and I found out that I lost one of the rubber mounting pieces of the water pump. I was replacing just the broken thermostat. My car (45k miles) is still running on the original pump and it's fine. I just need to buy 1 rubber mounting piece where the aluminum bolts would be in (this design is only for the old pump, the new ones don't have this rubber thing). Anyone knows where to buy it?

Detailing products are so subjective...it seems or not ?

Over the years I have used a variety of products for detailing purposes. Sonax, Zymol, Meguiars, Chemical Guys, etc. - I have a Porter Cable orbital DA polisher too. Lately though I cannot decide what route to go - my paint is in very good to excellent condition....could someone from detailers domain help me out?



I use the following: Sonax full effect wheel cleaner, Meguairs Ultimate Wash and Wax. Then use either Adams Butter Wax, or Chemical Guys Hybrid spray detail or Chemical Guys all-in-one polish, wax sealant. I have used Zymol HD cleanse for detailing some areas as that always seems to work well. I want to get a consistent system down. I need advice for polish, wax and something I can spray on for instant 'pop' of being shiny. And really like my tires super shiny, I have tried Meguiars, Mothers - both gels and sprays. Both seem to 'sling' though.

I am 18 now, and just graduated high school.

I will be moving to LA in august 2015, to start college there..



meanwhile during march 2015 i will pay a visit to the usa for 7 days.



this is very exciting for me as a car person, to start a short 4 year part of my life in the states.



as most of you guys are from usa, I would like to ask for some help and guidance if you guys don't mind:



1. where should i go to take my driving license theory test and actual test? is it going to be hard? a friend of mine insist i should take a course before...



2. is it the perfect timing to order a car, at march and spec it as i wish, how long does delivery take? and how many % of deposit they would like?

(I am starting to move in there around late july)

325d dreaded dpf light

so I was out in the car yesterday and the dreaded DPF light came on after a few miles of driving. I have tried to give the car a good blast to re gen it but it isn't budging. when I turn the car off and fire it back up the light stays off but then comes back on after a few miles. the car has done 75k miles with good history ill be honest I knew I would have the problem at some point as everyone will do they don't last for ever.



im thinking about removing the dpf by taking it off cutting the box and removing everything inside welding it back up as I know its an mot fail now? (correct me if im wrong but I think its just a visual check to see if dpf is still there?)

I am also thinking at the same time blanking the egr (again any recommendations or advice if anyone has any)

I have had the car re mapped as well which I will get them to do again for me after



I have read it is a b*****d of a job

can anyone shed some light on any previous experience

any help would be great

Deciding between Dinan and BMS....!

I like the cost of the BMS...



BUT... I like the warranty, convenience of dealer install and additional functional aspects of the Dinan.



I don't really care too much about getting max performance out of this thing... Just would be cool to have a bit more power. The power:weight ratio obvisouly isn't ideal.



If the Dinan was $2,500, it would be a no-brainer. But at $3,250... It's a bit of a choice to make now... Considering the BMS is $500.



How is everyone deciding between BMS and Dinan?

Hello all. think i made a big mistake....Trying to instal bmw Apps and playing with different VIN ,fake vin,upgrade online,return to mine vin..i can't be able to have these Bmw apps.But now i installed my Vin and i haven't anymore navigation,is it in the menu but is grey,not selectable.Start only after reboot but after few seconds it says "not avaible at the moment...."

What's happens?

If i check fsc status i have:

You might want to consider putting your tyres by fire before going to have them fitted. They're really struggling to fit the rears. Bloody run flats!

Overview
Having two M Coupes seemed like a great idea, but things have changed in my life, and two two-doors does not a four-door make! The car has never been tracked, never been driven in snow or salt, and driven in rain less than 10 times.

It has always been parked in heated, covered garage (as was the case with previous owner)



I'm the 3rd owner. I purchased the car and took delivery in January 2013.



Maintenance History

The prior owner bought this as a CPO car. I have his service records available and I have changed the oil+filter (myself, in April 2014 and will change before sale). I put new Michelin Pilot Super Sport XLs on it in May of 2014. No other service has been required during my ownership, as I have put about 5,000 miles on it.



The Minuses (photos will be uploaded to show detail shortly)

The prior owner did paintwork on the front, right part of the bumper/airdam and there is evidence of ground-off bodywork (that has been painted over). As part of the Pre-Purchase Inspection when I bought it, the dealership pointed this out, as well as the fact that the pop-up headlight washer cap was missing . Ihave paperwork detailing this that I am happy to share. Other records show a complaint about a loose bumper that was retightned.

Bottom line: This indicates the car either bumped into something, or was bumped into under the prior owner's watch/care.



I ordered and installed RPi Skid Plates for the "fangs" -- the fangs have minor damage from parking blocks/curbs.

The passenger-side rear bumper has a ~1.5" light scratch. Not sure of origin or timing. It is through the paint.

The driver-side rear spoiler shows an area of overbuffing or some sort of scratch along the curve. Not sure of the origin or timing. It is through the clearcoat and color, but not the primer.

The steering wheel volume button area coating is peeling. Seems to be a common issue.

There are a few minor areas where road debris have impacted the paint, but nothing has gone to metal or past the primer.



Bottom line on the above: I live in a city and drove the car on a few trips to Minnesota and Wisconsin. This was not a garage queen and I was unable to keep it 100% perfect. I am disclosing all of this here in good faith.

In Conclusion

This is a gorgeous car. I've detailed items here you may not normally see in an ad because I've been a member on this forum, and others, for a long time and plan to for some time (I am not selling my 2000 Z3 M Coupe EVER).

I asked this on E90 section since I have a 3-series, not 1. I didn't get many responses, so I thought I would ask here...



Is this possible? I have a non-M E90 and if I put M front strut mount, I can gain SOME shock travel?
