2015 Mustang (S550) Megathread

mardi 16 septembre 2014

Hey folks! I wanted to create this thread in anticipation of the news embargo which is reportedly going to be lifted tomorrow (9/17) at 12p EST. We've seen past threads discussing this car (in inappropriate subs, like BMW model-centric ones) but I'd like to keep everything concentrated here.

Here's a great central hub for information: Mustang6 Wiki

SUSPENSION

-The 2015 Mustang has all-new front and rear suspension systems.

-It is the first Mustang since the 2004 Cobra to feature an independent rear suspension.

-The new suspension geometry now generates twice as much anti-squat and anti-lift force for better pitch control.

Front MacPherson strut with double ball joints and tubular stabilizer bar, allowing for larger brakes and improved handling feedback.

New perimeter front subframe replaces several individual crossmembers to help stiffen the structure while reducing mass and providing more predictable wheel control.

Springs Coil

Shock Absorbers Integral strut, gas charged hydraulic

Stabilizer Bar

(diameter) 1.26"

Rear Integral-link independent with coil springs, solid stabilizer bar, and twin- or mono- tube dampers (application-specific).

New aluminum rear knuckles help reduce unsprung mass for improved ride and handling.

Springs Coil

Shock Absorbers Twin tube

Monotube (GT Performance Pack)

Stabilizer Bar (dia.) 0.80"

K-Brace Mounted on the underside of the car and ties the front suspension together to help reinforce the front end. It's like a strut-tower brace for the underside of the car to help stabilize the front end.
