lights must be on to control windows WTF!!!

So my gf's 2005 x3 has to have the headlights switched to the parking light or on position to be able to use the drivers side window module. Every person I talk to at bmw here in Utah has no idea what is going on and has never heard of this before. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen before and what they did to fix it before I spend the money to take it to bmw for them to try to find the problem.



I checked the normal problems, there were no pinched wires between the door and even replaced the module itself because it was really nasty looking and needed to be replaced anyways for looks.
