I thought I would share with you the Hits and Misses of the Frankfurt Auto Show(IAA). Everyone shows you the latest super cars, but Frankfurt had some really cool off the wall cars that debut. Here are the cars that caught my eye at Frankfurt.
For those of you that have never been to Frankfurt. It is the largest auto show - to my knowledge. You literally take press shuttles from one end of the complex to the other end. I'd say the entire display are is about 1/4 mile by 3/4 miles long. Its huge! Then outside in the many parking lots... they have off road courses that you can test SUV's and Cars on. In one park garage(under one of the display halls) you caould drive a fleet of cars... what ever you desire... but the lines are insane and I only had two days to look over the show! Most of the cars were nothing special. I think you could easily spend four days walking around the IAA show and you would always see something new. It is a very cool show to go too.
One tip I have, is to come on one of the two "insider" trade days. Anyone can come, you just pay about twice as much(~45 euros vs 20 euros) as on a public day. The first two days(Tuesday/Weds) of the IAA are for press only! Then on Thursday and Friday they have this special "trade day" ticket, for people who work in the car industry. But anyone can enter - IF you are willing to pay. Saturday thru the following Sunday(8 days long) is for the general public... and it is PACKED! The trade days don't have the crowds that the "public" days have... it's THE WAY to see the IAA/Frankfurt show! :)
I want to thank my friend and partner(in crime) on the IAA press days ChrisM135i Its always great to have a wing man when covering these huge events with. I'm looking forward to maybe repeating this adventure in Detroit this fall.
