Think of it as a marketing campaign...and you need to create the eye-catching advertisement. Post a picture of something that any marketing director would love to use in a magazine. Who knows, maybe you'll get a call.

Newbie to forum! New 2016 X3!
Hello guys and girls!
Newbie from the UK here. Got my 2016 F25 X3 coming in the next 7-10 days hopefully (been waiting since June! And the darn thing missed the cargo freighter last week :mad0260: ) so I cannot wait.
Just wanting to say hello, get a few thoughts on the setup I've gone for (all opinions welcomed and accepted), and also advice on any recommended mods or improvements from standard which are seen as "must dos"
So I've ordered a white 2.0L diesel auto (with shift paddles) Msport, oyster leather, fine wood anthracite trim, with media professional package, servotronic steering, sun protect glass, ext folding auto dim mirrors, model designation deletion rear only, xenons, and loud speaker :cool: now I've heard a lot of pros about the variable dampener control, is that an error to have missed out?
Hopefully I can be of use to you all at some point on here, and the same back.
Bit about me - 29, police officer here in the UK, based in Wales, live with the Mrs and my little 3 year old dude in tow! :) work wise, any way I can assist with legal points to do with vehicles don't hesitate to ask.

Can driving be illegal in the future?
Just pondering. Thinking about the far distant future. If self-driving vehicles become common and fairly accident-safe, human-powered cars will become less and less common and at some point be considered a risk. Driving will be a luxury, a privilege restricted to closed courses. And street driving become illegal. Possible?
I'm not sure if this will happen in my lifetime but I guess this stuff can happen.
Thinking about it makes me want to go out and drive :)

A Couple of Questions...Headlights and Cover...
Just got a 2012 carbon black x3 m sport, and it is a keeper! I have it all programmed now, but have a couple of basic questions that I couldn't get answers to in the manual...
--I reprogrammed a profile for my settings but cannot see a way to completely delete an old profile..I just reset the old one, is there a way to delete them or no need?
--I set up the X3 to have no DRL's....but the headlights seem to be on a lot of the time even during pretty decent light conditions. Is this common with the automatic setting (ie, conservatively bmw has it set up so the lights are on a lot of the time) or is there some way for me to 'dial back' the headlights so that they only come on when it is getting dark?
--Car Cover--the x3 may be spending a decent amount of time outside, and am thinking of getting a car cover for it. What would you recommend, and are they as much of a pain to take on and off as they seem?

Cars that are Investments
For this weeks fun topic I thought it would be cool to discuss cars that can be bought with the least depreciation or even as an investment for the future.
When we look at cars like the E30 M3 with limited production that depreciated and the went up in value due to some key attributes we can see that buying one of these cars back then would have been a pretty good investment if you liked driving it, holding it, and then reselling it today.
Also there is the case of the 1M which was made in limited production and was the first Turbo M car ever. While the value is high currently and will surely depreciate over time and then may even go back up in value simular to the E30 M3.
I have been considering the E9x M3 for my next car as I feel like the one and only V8 M3 will go down in history as something special.
So my question here is:

Thoughts on a Subaru BRZ?
First off, let me say I have no doubts about BMW. I currently have a 320i, my first BMW, and I love it! It's a nice entry into the brand.
I can afford the payments (lease), as well as all my other bills, but there's not a lot of room for much else in my budget. And yes I'm aware that owning a BMW is a want, and not a need :lol:
I've been passively looking around at different options, and I know a few members on the forum would agree that Subaru is a brand worth driving as well. I've always been fond of the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ, but I would more than likely consider Subaru due to better features. I love the look and the sportiness of the car, but I've never driven one. Looking at YouTube videos online, it's pretty clear the car is simplistic, and geared more towards the driving experience rather than the amenities that come with the car.
Has anyone ever driven/owned one and want to chime in on their experiences or opinions? :D

Looking at the ND miata...getting into the age old debate re: manual vs. auto. It's not really an issue of which is "better" to drive - I'm well aware of the pro's and cons that ppl have debated forever....
The thought is - if using this for scenic convertible drives, would the manual take away too much attention from the surroundings and act as a distraction?
i.e. if you were to take one up highway 1 in california or through a scenic canyon twisty, which one would you rather have - manual for road engagement, or auto to free up the mental "task load"?

Well i own a start up company and i designed a product that prevents the lighting cables from breaking. Its a patent pended slip over strain relief designed specifically for the lighting cable. It comes in 5 colors and is a very cheap way to keep them from breaking. Its not a fix if it already broke, but it will prevent good working cable from breaking from regular use. I just launched the site and got my first shipment so i figured why not post about it here
Even from a connivence standpoint, not having a dead phone in the morning from a broken charger its worth it, or for $3.99, youd spend more on gas just to get a new one, although lets admit we love driving out cars haha

Drove an hour away to a wedding and made it to about 2 exits from where we needed to before getting "car is hot"..." Engine is overheating " . We were raped by using the trooper's tow truck call in at $300. Only cash of course and had to drive away from where we were at to go to an ATM. Then because of some accident we were stuck for forever. Finally home and just venting about the next cost which will probably be the waterpump.

Repaired the Ashstray lid: 20 minutes/ $2
Writing this to hopefully help others save $400 by switching to Gei... Sorry, that's the commercial.
Essentially the ashtray operates on the same principal as a pen.
There is a metal pin that sticks out on the right side of the lid, and engages a little diamond shape track to hold closed, pressing it down changes tracks allowing it to open.
To take off the lid merely press inward on the pivot points and remove it.
More than likely your pin broke off, with possibly some of the plastic.
I found mine still inside the ashtray reattached it with superglue (less is more "strong") and then used tiny pieces of paper towel with a dab of superglue to soak them to reinforce the area and prevent a repeat.
The only difficulty was on reinstall, I used a Popsicle stick to hold the spring back whilst installing the ashtray lid so it would engage correctly.
Easy fix, save replacing the whole piece, and gf was happy. Win win.

Experienced Workplace Harrassment?
I started a new job at a small company last June and so far it has been pretty good until one of my coworkers on two separate occasions pulled the 'chicken flied lice' comment in my presence as well as others.
The first time it happened I was shocked and didn't know how to react as it has been many years since old school yard stuff. I was pissed off but I thought that it was a one-off and let it slide.
This week it happened the second time and in front of another coworker who gave a nervous laugh. This time I was pissed off again and stared at the guy who did it.
Been thinking about it last night as to what approach to take. Either talk to him in person but that means everyone else can hear it or send an email telling him to stop that crap.

As enthusiasts, we all know the Viper has an attraction that goes beyond it's history, performance, and styling. The Viper has always been alive, but it's seems that it's always been misunderstood, possibly due to poor marketing or a lack of marketing.
So we independently started a project that was going to look at how far an owner would go to be able to drive their Viper through all 4 seasons. We assembled an Emmy Award winning crew to document in pure 1080p what makes the Viper, an endangered automotive species, so amazing. Euro question - BMW online abroad
Hello,
Does anyone know what functions from BMW online work abroad?
I get the message "Current mobile communication network is not supported by BMW Online."
The car is originally italian, now in switzerland and I am using a swiss phone for bluetooth.
Also does "BMW online" use the Simcard in the card or the phone connection? Will it only work when I go back to Italy?
There are the related specs from the car F25 2.0D 2011:

UK: Set of 4 Pirelli P7 non run flats for sale + Style 304 Alloys
I have a set of Style 304 alloys and a set of Pirelli P7 non run flat tyres for sale.
The tyres have just over 7mm all round, they were new in December and not used for long.
Great way to get off the horrid run flats.
All in excellent condition.
Looking for £300 for the alloys. (perfect for a winter set up).
Looking for £250 for the tyres.
Will take £450 for the wheels and tyres to save me having to split them.
Ideal if someone is about to replace tyres as cheaper than a new set if tyres fitted.
I am 10 miles south of Norwich.
Can meet up around the M11/A14 area if it helps.
If you want to arrange a courier I can wrap them. I sent some 20" AMG wheels for someone the other day through Paisley Freight and that was £80, think they charge £60 for 17's.
I will post pics next week when I get back home.

It fantastic but if there was a cost effective upgrade I would do it.

Hello all,
I accidently reset the remaing kilometers to next Vehicle Check (Fahrzeug-check) so now it reads 60000 km, which in reality is around 15000 which it was before I reset it .
Is there any way to set this manually with e-sys, Tool32 or Ista/D which I have? I tried with Tool32 but I don't know what the proper command string would be... ?

Looking for a cheap daily driver lease - Recommendations?
Hey guys, starting a new position for work and don't want to put 100+ miles a day on my M3 for all the accounts in my new territory. The lease alone will probably save what I spend in gas for the M3 (not to mention I get more reimbursement on a newer vehicle.) I will still be driving the M3 once a week and weekend cruises.
Looking for a cheap/fun (200 or less) daily. I drove a mazda3 yesterday, 6 spd, wasn't bad, looking at volks, hondas and similar today. I don't want to be absolutely miserable for the next 2 years in my daily. :mad0259:
Let me know what you've had a good experience with. Honda civic is looking like the cheapest at 180 month, no money down.
