I test drove this yesterday and am considering getting it this weekend. One major flaw is the lip is trashed and has to be replaced. On mod bargains the lip is going for $305 plus shipping. If you have this mod, I'm just wondering how much did you pay for paint/install? Another was the rear spoiler's clear coat and paint is peeling in places and it's starting to turn green from being out in the sun, which I figure is around $300-350 for a new one.
Any opinions about the price, history, etc. about the car is also appreciated.
My wife was driving her year old Nissan Rogue and was hit from behind leaving very minor damage. We went to a highly rated auto body shop here in San Diego and they put a whole new OEM rear bumper... Today when we went to pick the car up the color was correct but a shade or two lighter than the rest of the car. I refused to take the car and they are going to re-spray it.
My question is: Does re-spraying the bumer cause the paint to be too thick? Would it be more likely to crack or wear sooner if it is re-sprayed?
Thanks for any answers, im just pretty annoyed at the whole thing at this point.
Hello all, long story short I had my fuel tank, injectors, and hoses replaced. It took three weeks and I expected to get my car back in good shape.
As soon as I got in my car and drove 5 feet it had tons of exhaust drone and sounded significantly louder. I thought maybe its just because I came from a 4cyl loaner...nope.
The car sounds like they cut off the resonator and straight piped it.
I have a video that shows the ticking sound it now makes but it really doesn't show the drone and vibration when I accelerate. ///
On top of this I was told the car was clean before I came to pick it up. The car wasn't clean it was hammered dirty. I had to use the windshield wipers to pull out of the service department.
Maybe I'm just upset but I paid a lot of money for repairs and I'm treated poorly and I feel like I'm being pushed around.
Okay I'm done:mad0259: let me know what you guys think
I know you have been seeing some of my R8 videos already and I don't want to SPAM the BMW forum with Audi stuff ;) I promise. This will be the last R8 Video.
The next couple videos should be: Boxster GTS, Jaguar F-Type, M6 GC, X6 M and Porsche GT3. So stay tuned ;)
Quite a feat for a $60k car. The journalists are now reviewing the GT350R and the reviews are very positive. Weight for the R is coming in at 3650 with the regular GT350 100lbs heavier.
On e90post, the regional sections have UK specific sub-forums, eg UK tech, OT and classifieds. However, that wasn't extended to the other sub-domain sites, eg f80.bimmerpost.
Can this be done, specifically for the classifieds, or better yet, add region tags in the classifieds sections thread listing?
While the location stuff seems to be in beta, if it's not mandatory to put that information in, or it's not viewable in the thread listings, it becomes useless. With an additional tag, you'll be able to see in the thread list where something is being sold.
For example, as a test, I used 60606, which is a ZIP for the loop area in Chicago. No threads popped up. If I extend the search to 10 miles, I get some hits, which the ZIP alone should have provided.
I also used my postcode in London and extended the search to 500 miles, which will basically cover the entirety of England, and nada. That means either no one in the UK is using these sub-forums, or that functionality for non-US addresses doesn't work.
Either way, a visual representation on the thread list would work nicely as is done in other forums.
Extend regional sections to other subforums or sub domain sites
This is a shot in the dark but I'm looking to get opinions from anyone that may have Palace Chased from active duty to active reserve. Are you enjoying life, pay and service time?
I am waiting for new X4 to arrive and I am trying to get a jump on ordering some Wheels and tires. My plan is to keep the stock Wheels and tires (20 in) and use them as my winter rims (of course replacing the tires to winter) Any recommendations on Summer wheel sizes? I know the 20's have quite a gap from tire to wheel well. Looking to eliminate that a bit!
My 2013 28i X3 is about to hit 50K miles in about, oh one day. Wondering what I can get dealership to repair/maintenance before warranty runs out.
Spark Plugs?
Rear Brakes? (they say has to be certain mm on the brake sensor to replace)
I thought this was pretty awesome. Every time I see stuff like this I get so jealous! If you really think about it a lot of us could totally travel more but we don't for whatever reason, besides money. There is so much to see out there, Bravo to this gentlemen
( this is what I found online and ....wow...speechless )
I have to admit...sound's logical to me...
Here's the story:
To those of you that thought this could be an inspiring bed time story post, sorry guy's nothing sexual will go down here, allthough hopefull and still inspiring.
As it is ment for food for thought!
Ever thought about what kind of a real bomb shell your wifey is?
Of course you did...perfect hair, great done finger nail's, perfect make up.
Well the last could be arguable but the fact that your wife is a bomb shell, not at all.
Sound's great right...and what would you say when I tell you, that what's been stated can be taken literally?
Okay, let me brake it down for you:
By all the chemical's that are used as ingredient's in hair softener's, make up, finger nail colors up to body lotions and to come to an end body oil's that get your wife's soft skin ( also arguable ), your wife LITERALLY turn's into an
CHEMICAL- bomb shell...
Thing's can get very bad and once you realise waking up, having no drive, your eye's hurting, are swollen, your nose is clocked...and you feel uncomfortable the whole time? ...You'd say to yourself...god this must be a burnout...I'm work to much and exactly that is the down spiral and the route you definately don't want to go down with!
Do yourself a favour, once you develope these strange health issues and you run from one doctor to the other, JUST talk a few line's with you lady.
Get her to show you the shit she put's in her face in the morning, shit she slaps on her fingernail's every two days, the shit she smear's her body in and plain and simple google the ingredient's.
Google the damn ingredient's!
To sum it up and keep it short:
Many of that chemical B.S. in your wife's beauty pocket is highly allergic and it can seriously damage alot regarding your body.
It's like you get harmed and can't protect yourself as you get ill, doctor's are clueless and you are close to freaking loosing your mind.
Your respiratory organ's can be ffected due to allergical reaction's.
Allergic reaction could cause long term chronical illnesses like sinus, wich a few symptom's are tinnitus, sleep disorder, concentration issue's, PAIN...neck pain, heart irregularitie's...google the rest.
Basically this can KILL you over time and the funny part is on top of it:
No one get's it until wether you decide to end all this or it happen's by natural cause due to over stressing your system.
Take this here just as an attempt to revive the consciousness of the chemical-user's and their innocent victim's.
Force downloaded it yesterday to my Dell tablet overwriting Windows 8.1
Its definitely seems like a big improvement over crappy 8.1
Time will tell but it might actually be a winner.
Hi all, new member here. We just picked up a lightly used X4, carbon black/black and I want to do a tune. Searching here, there are practically no threads on this forum. With all the action on the 335/135 forums, I thought there would be more chatter here. A good friend has had 335's with Proceed and JB4 and as such, looking to do Burger's Stage 1 tune but wanted to hear from members with it on an X3/X4 platform. Any help or advice with this tune or Racechip, (others?) etc. would be appreciated.
I am a professional so I shave, daily and even once on the weekend. I have had ALL of the new and "better" razors. You name it..if Gillette has made it, I have owned it.
Recently I went back to the trusty 'ole Mach 3 Turbo. It's simple, the shave is solid and it works well. In the need of additional blades, I hit my local Publix.
5 blades...$16. It's criminal! I bought them then bitched about it to my wife. Surfing online, I ran across $ shave club. So I gave it a shot. They let you choose from 3 different razors:
The "Kia", The "Honda Accord" and the "Infiniti/Lexus" ( a good analogy for us car guys)
I chose the "Honda"..$6 for the handle and 4 razors. Buy as many or little as you want. You can now feel free to use a razor per week.
The shave: Sharp, clean and no burn (I shave in the shower with a mirror). The "value" is there: 10x better than a disposable. Almost as good as a full retail Gillette. The great thing is that they're so inexpensive that I don't feel I need to "stretch out" the razor and cut up my face. I will use one new razor per week...no sweat. Good stuff!
They have face products too...I bot some after shave cream. The service is legit! I like a good deal and would define this as an "A".
Try it out.
Here is "My" link...I get $5 off (every member does too if someone uses their link).. but I don't care if you use it or not....I got $5 for signing up my wife. BTW, girls use ALOT more razors than us...good god!
I've just given up trying to get my group of friends to do random trips with me, so I'm going to just do it alone I guess. Suggestions? The cheaper I can fly and stay (think short trips 1-3 days max) the more I can do it!
Anyone seen the story of that douchebag big game hunter from MN? Not sure why I'm so angry about it but I hope this jagoff pays a heavy price. Who gets off killing for sport and why is it legal anywhere?
I purchased my 2011 x3 35I a few months ago. Yesterday I was driving and got a drivetrain malfunction error reduced power. I turned the car off to see if it would reset and it did not start again.
It cranks and on occasion sputters but does not start.
Same as in this video:
I have search all over the web and it appeared to be the hpfp (I was also having a rough idle issue that seemed to be getting worse).
I replaced the hpfp today and still it will not start! I am trying to locate a code reader to see what codes it displays.
Previous maintenance included new plugs and coils.
Any ideas? Car has 78k so it is out of warranty :/
Fair warning for folks who aren't "speed readers": If you are going to read this post plus the content at the links I've included, you'll need a good 20 minutes of free time.
Public service announcement:
There's some eye candy in this post as well....
I'm not 100% sure that the answer to my title question is "yes" or "no." I can certainly see a strong case for the answer being "yes," and I don't see an equally strong case for it being "no." It's a bit dismaying for me to write that for though I'm aware that we have terms like "black music" and "white music" in the U.S. vernacular, I don't think of or buy music that way. I think of music as being things like fast, slow or something in between, a love song, a spiritual, a party song, or any number of other things all of which have to do with timbres, chords, beats, harmonies, melodies, synchopations, key changes, and, of course, how those things sound to my ear/brain and how they make me feel when I hear them.
What made this even cross my mind? Well, certainly this recent thread -- http://ift.tt/1DPFeVo -- on B-post played a role. In composing my "wall of thoughts" (http://ift.tt/1Isnd56) in response to having read John Metta's essay titled "I, Racist" (http://ift.tt/1NXBNS9) played a role in making me somewhat more presently aware of the topic in general. Next thing you know, I came across this: http://ift.tt/1Isnd5a .
Now I don't listen to U.S. Top 40 broadcast music (cable, satellite or radio), so I don't personally know what they do or don't play. I am willing to take Tyrese's word for it that Top 40 (aka "mainstream") broadcasters don't/haven't play/-ed songs from his latest album. I had to actually look to see what are the top Top 40 radio stations in U.S. (http://ift.tt/1DPFdkk)
When I found that list, it didn't escape me for one second that the Top 40 station in D.C. has WHIT as its call letters. Seeing that after encountering the NBC story about Tyrese, I thought, "well, maybe Tyrese has a point." One thing I knew is that radio station owners can request their call letters and if they are available, they get what they request.
That said, I suspect (hope as it pertains to this thread topic) the call letters are merely an unfortunate coincidence, even though I know that little in the world of business is coincidence. Even as some (hopefully very few) whites are "full on" racists, these days, unlike 60+ years ago, they aren't above earning revenue (directly or indirectly) from non-whites.
Sidebar:
I for one happen to find the "undercover" racism and bias of today more disconcerting than I do the overt and unabashed racism of years gone by. You know me. I'm an "own your sh*t" kind of person. I most respect "you" when "you" do "you," not when "you" do the "you" that "you" think others want "you" to be. For me, regardless of whether I like "you," it's all about integrity first.
End of sidebar.
Back to the thread topic...
So the question in my mind is the very one Tyrese posed. What about his latest song makes it unsuitable for Top 40, yet Robin Thicke, Sam Smith and others can get their music played on the largest stations in the country, the mainstream stations? Style-wise, there's no question that they all perform similar sounding/themed music, regardless of what label you want to put on it. (Is "R&B" code for "black" perhaps? God, I hope not.)
I think that there's "something" to why Tyrese isn't getting airplay on Top 40 stations yet has the top selling album on the planet right now. Isn't popularity the thing that makes a song be Top 40? When used without qualification, "Top 40" refers to the best-selling or most frequently broadcast popular music. I know damn well that his album didn't go from zero to top-selling overnight; that it was headed that way had to have been apparent before it actually got to that position.
I've been using the word "Top 40" as a synonym for "mainstream music." "Mainstream" refers to a current of thought that is presently widespread. It includes all popular culture and media culture, typically disseminated by mass media. It is to be distinguished from subcultures and countercultures, and at the opposite extreme are cult followings and fringe theories. By Tyrese's music not making it onto "mainstream" radio, does that mean then that it's subcultural, countercultural, fringe or cultist music? If so, who decides that it is?
Shame by Tyrese
Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke
Stay with Me by Sam Smith
I didn't include a Justin Timberlake song because he made a point of asserting that he's a "pop" artist. Perhaps he figured the Top 40 stations might not realize he's a white guy if he didn't say that? Or perhaps as a white guy he knows he's gotta have a "label" of some sort, so better that the define what it is than let others put one on him that hurts his record sales?
All the best.
Are "mainstream" and "pop" code words for "white" when it comes to music?
I've done a brief search in a number of different sections without any success so I looked to this section with hope of finding some answers.
I'm wondering if any of ya'll know of any people or websites that rent out the boomstick-style rigs for DSLRs? Looking to do some rolling rig shots, but I don't want to spend 1,000+ for the carcamerarig.com products. Any help would be stellar!
(I also live in the Denver area, but I spend a great amount of time in Minneapolis as well as South east Florida)
Hey fellas... just wanna have everyone's take on the overall experiences with others, Porsche/Audi, Lexus, Toyota, Honda, American, etc... I've only dealt with Lexus once when I bought a RX350 but I keep going back to BMW because the Finance department gives the best rates and are very easy to deal with....
Lexus was annoying... their rates weren't competitive either and my overall experience compared to BMW dealer was dissatisfying.
Or am it all in my head and it's all the same? Just wanted to know if I ever decide to go Porsche or others in the future.
Sold my Miata last week when I found the exact Z06 I wanted. It was a fun little daily driver, but something had to go because I wanted to get back into a Vette & I'd rather keep the Speed6. I am sure I will buy another Miata one day. I will definitely miss putting the top down as that was half the reason I bought the it in the first place. The new toy will make me forget about her, though.
2007 Z06 in the best color...Atomic Orange. Already has heads, cam & exhaust done. I need to get her dynoed, but should put down around 575 WHP. I want to toss a shot of juice at her too, but I think I will just leave it alone. More than enough power for the street anyway. The ZR1 wheels have to go. Going to put stock Spiders, a nice deep dish wheel or a concave wheel in chrome or gray on.
The crappy part is the car is in NM. The wait while she ships is going to suck & I will be worried about someone damaging the car.
My 2014 X3 had a bad wiper problem that cant be solved by pushing up the wiper controls for 3 secs with the engines off. The metal lever under the hood that mechanically controls both wiper blades can get displaced causing the wipers to stay in vertical position when turned off, and worse, causing the rubber fitting of the lower edge of the widshield to get partially detached. In case you have this problem, and you decide to solve it yourself, there's a simple solution i can share....
I've got your typical UV filters, a circular polarized, and a blue/gold circular polarized. I've gotten by in the past with the cir polarized to pick up a stop or two in bright sun when i wanted a longer exposure, but i think i'm picking up amy first ND filter.
I think i've settled on Breakthrough Photography's x3 1.8 (6 stop) filter. Anyone have experience with this? I've read several good reviews and i've only used Hoya & Singh-ray filters thus far.
I have a 2011 x3 3.5i(which coincidentally just went out of warranty 3 weeks ago) and my wife was driving and as she was leaving the driveway, the car threw all 3 of these errors at once. Since pulled back into the driveway and it wouldnt even let her put the car in park, she had to turn off the engine at which point the car stopped. Of course I turned the car back on about 30 minutes later, and all the messages have gone away, and I was able to pull the car out of the driveway and drive it back without problem.
Has anyone experienced this before? I did some googling and it seemed possibly software related, and we have recently been dealing with a "rear light malfunction" message that would come intermittently and then disappear for weeks (brought in twice for dealership, the last time they replaced a bulb?). I am waiting for the dealer to get back to me on whether i should get it towed in, or just drive it since the messages were gone. I was already bringing it back next week to look @ the rear light malfunction (they said they would cover under warranty since i brought in twice before and still not resolved) so hopefully they'll somehow cover this under that assuming its just some software issue.
Transmission/chassis stabilization/drivetrain malfunction all at once??
so I was recently at the R8 presentation in Portimao and had a little go with Martin Winkelhock in his new Audi R8 LMS. This was after I had done my laps in the R8 V10 Plus and I was amazing by how much later he could break and how fast he would fly into the corners in complete darkness. Amazing. Enjoy.
Pirelli P7 Cinturato 245/50/18 RFT's for sale. I have 3 total. The least average tread depth is about 5/32's. Great for spare or lease turn-in. $75 each via PayPal + shipping ($25.)
Engineers at Audi and BMW are working on customized tablets to help the automakers better compete with iPads and Android tablets that passengers may opt to use in their vehicles. The customized tablets will run Google Android and connect to the car's Wi-Fi and electronics and will be designed to safely withstand crashes, as well as extreme temperatures.
I am wondering if any members (RHD X3 2004-2007) have experienced something along these lines:
1: All windows can be controlled by the driver's master switch no problems.
2: The LHS rear window cannot be controlled either up nor down from its own switch
3: The LHS rear window automatically lowers when the key is switched to position 2 only after unlocking the vehicle when the window lock on the driver's master switch is not enabled.
4: If the vehicle is left unlocked, the window will remain up when the vehicle is next started up.
I'd love to know what I am missing here as I've not been able to locate a cause or solution. If anyone can offer assistance I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance.
Okay, perhaps I'll feel differently tomorrow. My son drives 90 miles at 75 miles per hour in 4th gear (automatic) in a 2001 Volvo V70 wagon.
He is a junior meathead football player who fits the profile of a dumb jock.
:barf:
Car indicator light starts flashing and says stop immediately. After inspection and oil everywhere, he basically melted the engine, because he apparent drove the car with no oil in it - probably burning a good chunk of it running 75 mph in 4th gear.
:mad0259:
After about 3k in service and 3.5k purchase, all down the tubes because he was bored. Also, he says, "I didn't know he needed to check the oil."
:sigh:
While I don't force him to do the same studious things I did when I was in school, he is such a dolt.
So I have replaced every halogen bulb in my F25 and successfully coded out all errors (for bulbs that were not canbus) except for the INNER brake lights. Has anyone else taken on this project and got the inner brake lights replaced with LEDs and errors removed via coding?
It is very odd that I can remove the bulb checks and it works for all the lights (outer brake lights, rear turn signals, front turn signals, backup lamp) except the INNER brake lights. Any thoughts? I can't imagine that the INNER brake lights are a different process....
I guess it's a tongue-in-cheek hint of the PR folks at Porsche to the Porsche GT3 RS design that got leaked because of the early release of a die cast (see here).
Today I received my replacement LED kit for my angel eyes for my 2008 X3. I guess it turns out that my car doesn't have the H8 bulb, but rather an H6 bulb. What I received as a direct replacement in LED form does not fit at all. I kept thinking I was pulling the wrong bulb, but is not the case.
Does anyone know if they make a replacement for the lights that my car is outfitted with? It's pretty dang frustrating as I ordered the part for a "2008 BMW X3 E83," which is exactly what I've got. I guess maybe they used the light setup from a 2007?:sigh:
Does anyone know anything about this stuff??
Your help is extremely appreciated. I just hope the guy on eBay will take my stuff back!!!
Anyone on this forum going to Cisco Rocks at the Levi's Stadium tomorrow afternoon? Christina Aguilera and country singer Keith Urban are performing. I'll be there to take in the free food and drinks. I'm little nervous since the area has been seeing quite a few earthquakes in the last few days. It'd be just my luck to have a big one hit while we're at the event.
I would've embedded the photos if there was a spoiler option on this forum, but because there isn't, I'll just link this album..or you can click on the link above to see all of the pictures.
Hey guys a buddy of mine has a couple kits for sale if anybody is interested let me know we are based in Los Angeles $65 a kit. PM for additional or questions. Thanks http://ift.tt/1DI0Frz
For those who have gone from the Goodyear LS2's to this tire, how has the transition been? I need tires and was all set to get these, But i started reading the reviews on Tire Rack and didn't get a warm, fuzzy feeling. The specs are good (compared to the LS2's which were bad). Since I have dedicated winter tires/wheels I'd like a higher performance tire than the LS2 without going out of the RFT category. Not many choices. Thanks.
POTENZA RE960AS POLE POSITION RFT...not great reviews on Tire Rack
Pirelli P7 Cinturato RFT's for sale. I have 3 total. The least average tread depth about 5/32's. Great for spare or lease turn-in. $75 + shipping ($25) via PayPal.
I'm looking into leasing then buying a Prius as a daily driver. Anyone know of any incentives, dealer programs to reduce/waive fees. I drive more or less 100 miles a day in traffic and city driving so this car would be it for the long haul.
Pretty solid list. Not sure I agree 100% with it, but you can tell the author is a BMW enthusiast.
Quote:
Bayerische Motoren Werke, or BMW as we know and love it, has had what can easily be referred to as A Good Run.
From Isetta to i8, since being founded in 1916, the German car company has produced some legendary machinery. But whats the best of the best?
Shrinking the list of dozens upon dozens of amazing vehicles that wore the blue and white roundel to just 10 is a daunting task. A top 10 list of best BMWs consisting of just BMW M3s and M5s would be difficult enough. Yet here we are, making a top 10 list encompassing the companys entire near-century of existence. Do you agree with these choices as the top 10 vehicles? Did we miss anything? Let us know in the comments below.
10. BMW 328
The 1936 BMW 328 is the car that really got the sports car ball rolling for BMW, so its fitting that it begins this list. When first introduced in 1936, the 328 seemingly won any sports car race it wanted to.
Powered by a 2.0-liter straight-six engine and weighing only 1,830 lbs., the 328 made 79 HP an impressive feat for its time. It didnt hurt either that the two-seat roadster was a good looking car as well. Even in 1936, the 328 had a horizontal iteration of BMWs famous twin kidney grille.
9. BMW 3.0 CSL
To better compete in the European Touring Car Championship, BMW created the 1972 3.0CSL. By taking the already successful 3.0CS, BMW lightened up the car by removing sound deadening, adding thinner body panels and removing excess trim. The engine was slightly bored-out to a hair over 3.0-liters.
In 1973, the 3.0CSL was made even more race ready, as the engine was expanded to 3.2-liters and a full blown, multi-spoiler aero kit was added to the car. Like its ancestor BMW 328, the 3.0CSL enjoyed a very successful racing career.
8. BMW 1 Series M Coupe
The 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe was a rebirth of the no-excuses, driver focused compact BMW like a spiritual successor to the 2002 Turbo and original E30 M3.
The 1 M Coupe received a wider track and wider body work than a standard 1 Series. Despite this, it actually remained lighter and tipped the scales at under 3,300 lbs. Power came from a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that made 335 HP and 332 lb-ft. of torque. Only available with a six-speed manual transmission, the 1 Series M Coupe borrowed a lot of go-fast parts from its bigger brother, the M3.
7. BMW 2002 Turbo
In 1973, the 3.0CSL wasnt the only special edition sporty BMW there was also the 2002 Turbo. Introduced in the 1960s, the New Class of compact cars marked a new direction for BMW and would eventually lead to the highly successful 3 Series in the late 1970s.
Before that transition would occur, several sporty editions of the New Class would arrive, with the 2002 Turbo being one of the best. Using a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the 2002 Turbo made 170 HP and 180 lb-ft. of torque. With upgraded aerodynamic body work, the 2002 Turbo would prove successful in various forms of racing, building on BMWs legacy as a maker of high-performance cars.
6. BMW Z8
Its hard to believe, but the BMW Z8 lasted four years in production around the turn of the millennium. Built as a spiritual successor to the legendary 507 roadster, the Z8 was designed with many of the old cars beautiful lines in mind.
Power came from a 4.9-liter V8 that made 400 HP and 370 lb-ft. of torque. Exorbitantly expensive at the time, the car is best known for starring in the James Bond film The World Is Not Enough. Only 5,703 of these roadsters were ever made.
5. BMW i8
The BMW i8 is a technological marvel from BMW. With the looks and performance of a supercar, the i8 is also a highly efficient plug-in hybrid. By using an electric motor paired to a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, the i8 is capable of achieving 76 mpg and traveling 15 miles on electric power only.
Looking like something that has traveled back in time from the future, the four-passenger i8 is also a serious sports car. Making a combined 357 HP, the rear-wheel-drive wedge can hit 60 MPH in just over four seconds on the way to an electronically controlled 155 mph top speed.
4. BMW M5 (E34)
The second-generation BMW M5, codenamed E34, is considered by many as the best M5 ever made. Produced between 1989 and 1995, the E34 was the last M5 to retain a curb weight under 4,000 lbs. It had all the right performance ingredients as well: a manual transmission, rear-wheel drive and a powerful six-cylinder engine with roots tracing back to the legendary M1 supercar.
Initially measuring 3.6-liters in displacement, the inline-six made 310 HP. Later, in some markets, the engine would be expanded to 3.8-liters and make 335 HP. For those who want something truly special, there were even a few M5 Touring Wagons produced.
3. BMW 507
The 507 is arguably the best-looking BMW ever made and youd never convince me otherwise. Built during the late 1950s, the 507 was a front engine, rear-wheel-drive roadster with a 3.2-liter V8 under the hood.
Despite its gorgeous looks and good performance, the 507 was incredibly expensive and only 252 units were ever produced. Despite these minuscule sales figures, the legacy of the 507 lives on and it even inspired the Z8 roadster decades later. Elvis also drove one, so theres that.
2. BMW M3 (E30)
When it comes to modern BMW performance, its easy to point at the original E30 M3 as the start of it all. Originally, the M3 was created for homologation purposes in the DTM racing series. Using a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, some street-legal M3s made as much as 210 HP from the factory.
But the M3 was more than just an engine upgrade. Starting life as a 3 Series coupe, the M3 received upgraded aerodynamics, suspension components, drivetrain parts and brakes. It began a legacy that can still be felt in modern BMWs, such as the upcoming M2 coupe.
1. BMW M1
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, BMW built its first, true supercar. Called the M1, the mid-engine two-seater was purpose built as a homologation basis for sports car racing. Stuffed behind the driver was a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine that produced 273 HP an impressive figure in the post oil-crisis world.
Despite its serious performance and racing success, the M1 may have not been as memorable had it been an ugly duckling. Not to worry though, with a body designed by Giugiaro, the M1 looked as fast as it was. And, in full racing kit, the big-winged Bimmer was truly imposing on the race track.
Looking at buying an E53 for winter. I'm getting rid of my X1 for an M2 if and when that thing comes to light.
Is there any MYs or engines I should stay away from? I'm most likely going to get a 3.0i since they're the cheapest. but there's a 4.6is out there for the right price too.
Have reached the point of wanting to upgrade my DSLR. Am looking into mid-level ranges, want to hear some suggestions? The T2I while an amazing entry level camera, would like to be able to take a step up.
My dogs ride in the back seat and are trashing the doors with dirty paws and sharp nails. I have a seat cover but it doesn't cover the doors. I have read about door protectors but it sounds like there isn't a good solution on the market. My research has shown that they either don't stay in place or that they will scratch the tinting on the window.
Has anybody found a good solution?
Thanks in advance.

Recommendation for Door Guard Protector for Dog...
installing the OEM trailer hitch & i'm stuck on temporarily relocating the battery. The is a small black connector on one of the red terminals that i can't figure out for the life of me how to remove it. Looking for a battery removal DIY. I have to remove the battery to get to this one wiring harness area.
I did a quick search and the tripod threads are nearly 2 years old. I've got a trip coming up where i think i'm going to want to have a tripod with me. I've got one, but it's heavy and bulky. The travel light thread didn't have much tripod substance in it so i figured I'd start a tripod specific thread.
I'm looking for something that can handle a 5Diii & 70-200, relatively small, and light weight. Anyone have suggestions for tripod and heads?
Also, i picked up some Peak Design camera strap/retention system stuff. Are their tripod heads that are comparable with those peak design plates?
so since I am a journalist I was invited to Portugal last weekend to drive the new Audi R8 V10 and V10 Plus. I gotta say, I wasn't a big fan of the previous R8. It understeered too much and the car just didn't seem to be worth $180k especially the latest facelifts...
However, the new car is fantastic. Very different machine. Much more sporty, much more modern, and much better quality in the cabin. Here is a little video of me doing a launch in the R8 V10 Plus.
hi everyone

My desktop from almost a decade ago finally decided to pass on from this world. I opened it up and pulled out the HDD (3.5 inch SATA 640GB) and bought a HD enclosure and plugged it on my current laptop. I think it's basically acting like an external storage. Fortunately, I've been able to access most (if not all) of the files I had on my old desktop.
My problem is this...can I use my makeshift external storage to boot Vista?
- the storage already had Vista installed from when it was still in the old desktop.
- my current laptop uses Windows 7.1 SP1
- when I tried selecting the storage from the boot menu (F12 on restart/start-up), I only get a blue screen and a bunch of lines of white text appear and reboot to use the original Win7 settings.
- As it is now, the external storage is plugged via USB 2.0. The enclosure came with a SATA connection wire but I don't have any eSATA ports. Using any port inside my laptop wouldn't work out because I would literally take it apart to access them.
I am not tech savvy...I don't even overclock. I just use my computer to play games, surf the net, and watch videos.
Really like the look of the Omega Watches... Not a watch enthusiast by any means but would like a good quality piece.
Omega seems to fit the bill.
I really like the Rolex Daytona as well but its price tag keeps me from pulling the trigger.. don't think I could explain that one to the wife either... Plus Id rather spend less and take a nice vacation.. which is what Im planning on doing.. The watch is for my 1st year anniversary being a married man.
I so far have checked out a couple Planet Ocean's
Was hoping anyone with an Omega could post up what they have a pic if you have it and what you may suggest ...
Also if you know of a great place to buy.. I figure online would be better than a standard brick and mortar shop.
Budget is going to stay at a Firm 5k.. Im ok with buying pre-owned as well as long as its in top tier condition.
Thanks in advance!
Omega Watches ?? who's got em.. Looking to buy my first Omega.. need help
Quite simply, what specific things (tangible and intangible) do you expect to gain in return for the money you spend on a mechanical watch?
When you spend $500 or less?
When you spend $501 - $3000?
When you spend $3001 - $6000?
When you spend $6001 - $15,000?
When you spend $15K+?
For myself, as goes watch performance I have two types of expectations.
Physical performance -- this is pretty much the same no matter what I pay for a watch. I mostly expect that thing thing won't fall apart in the course of using it. Since I don't live an especially rugged lifestyle, I have no reason to expect that even the cheapest mechanical watch should be unable to meet my expectations. I'm well aware of the stronger and less strong ways to assemble watch components -- screw pins vs. pressure pins to hold bracelet links, for example -- but these days, even the least "tough" of them, when properly executed are more than sufficient.
Timekeeping performance -- I expect 30 seconds per day accuracy from watches costing less than $3000. Above $3000, I expect chronometer grade (or better) timekeeping accuracy.
What I expect in terms of physical, functional and ergonomic design, and aesthetic design, (and the resulting execution) is a whole different matter. The more I spend, the more I expect in each of those dimensions. There are too many factors to list individually by price range, but I can offer some examples:
Functional design -- At some point above $6K, I expect the outer edge of a rotor to be weighted with gold rather than, say, lead or some other non-luxury metal. Similarly, for a dive watch, above $100, I expect the rotating bezel not to rotate on its own so long as I'm awake when I wear it.
Physical design -- Above $6K, I expect the maker has put enough thought into the dial so that s/he doesn't have to lop off part of the numbers that denote the hours on the dial of a chronograph watch. If that means using baton markers instead of numbers, so be it, but seeing 1/3 of a "4", for example, just doesn't work for me, at least not at $6K+. As another example, I'd have to get well below $50 before I would not expect the design of the lugs to be such that pressure pins won't securely hold the bracelet to the watch case.
Ergonomic design -- At $500+ I expect that there's nothing physically harmful or painful associated with wearing the watch. For example, the crown shouldn't be so sharply cut that when pressed against the back of my hand, it abrades or actually cuts/tears my skin. Or, a design on the caseback shouldn't scrape the skin on my wrist/arm as the watch moves up and down over time.
Aesthetic design -- I expect that visual balance -- be it asymmetrical balance or symmetrical balance -- exists among the elements of the watch's face. I won't buy any watch that doesn't have this quality. I'd sooner the watchmaker omit a feature and retain the visual balance than include it and mess up the visual balance. One pricey example of a very well made watch that is visually a disaster, and not just because I don't like "exposed guts" watches, is Breguet's GMT Tradition model.
As much as I don't at all like watches that exposed their insides, I at least can't say of Breguet's uncomoplicated Tradition that the visual balance is a total disaster.
Okay. Now Mr. Santorum may have some good ideas, and more power to him and them if he does. The problem is that those good ideas are held in the same brain that apparently skipped class every time there was a discussion on the basic structure of the U.S.' government, and not once in his subsequent years of living bothered to "borrow a notebook" or something to acquire the missed instruction, apparently not even while he sat as a U.S. Senator or Representative.
I'm not of a mind to deny folks, political candidates, credit for having good ideas. One need not be a genius to have a good idea. However, being grossly ill informed on a matter as basic as the role and primacy of the U.S. Supreme Court is enough for me to feel that I as a citizen am better off if the person who is that ill informed shares his/her good ideas with whoever does get elected to public office rather than our electing them to office.
We all endured eight years of having an intellectual midget in the White House; do we really want or need to do that again? I'd like to know that my President is at least my intellectual equal, but really I rather they be my intellectual superior. If nothing else, it makes possible and plausible their having considered things I haven't.
Sure, anyone can "miss" a key fact on any number of arcane topics, and I wouldn't necessarily think their doing so to be a big deal. But for a former Senator and Representative to have for 20+ years missed, or God forbid ignored, something as basic as the role of the Supreme Court forces me to fear what other basic realities escape him. I wonder what other basic concepts he might not be aware of, or worse, simply choose to ignore in the course of defining policy?
All the best.

We've connected the audio/video Y-cable (BMW 61122344300) between our 2012 F25 and an older iPod Classic, and now have both album art and audio - great!
But I'm a little confused as to how to enable RANDOM through the iDrive system - so that the songs queue up randomly. I searched the manual and it seems ambiguous, directing us to an Options menu that I cannot seem to find under the External Devices menu.
I simply enabled the "Shuffle" feature on the iPod itself and that worked (I even noticed that hovering the iDrive cursor over the track advance >> showed "Random" on the iDrive screen.
But it now seems to have reverted back to sequential play on its own, and short of disconnecting the iPod and re-enabling Shuffle again, it seems there must be a RANDOM option within iDrive for this external device that I am simply missing.
Can anyone enlighten me please?
Thanks!

Anybody have any idea how it works to purchase the car after the lease? Its my first M and I'm really in love, such an amazing car. Although I leased it I'm now starting to think this is a car I'm definitely going to want to keep for more than 3 years. Does anybody know how it works? Do I just subtract the amount I've paid by the end of the lease and subtract that from the MSRP of the Car to find its new price? Thanks.
Auto Express have a feature on the new X1 and it looks amazing! It would be interesting to see it alongside the X3 because they look very similar in size / shape.
I hope the next generation X3 is styled in a similar way - BMW will be on to a winner. Incidentally when is the next gen X3 due as my lease runs out early 2017 so will be looking to place an order mid 2016
Just picked up my 2016 X3 today - oh wow! - when I turn the engine off, the radio stays on (radio ready mode) and I have to push the ignition button a second time to turn the radio off.
Is there a setting so that when I turn the engine off everything is off? I thought it did the right thing the first few times I stopped, but now I'm not sure
Well, there is an extremely popular 'Pointless photos and random places... random pic of the day thread' in the M3 / M4 Photos and Videos forum, but it seems like some non M3/4 content has been showing up. I thought, why not make a 'car spotting' photo thread that we can keep active.
This is for those moments when you snap a quick video of an exotic going by, or see some non-BMW related content on the street that you just have to capture (Merc, Porsche, Audi, Exotic, Vintage, etc etc) and you want to share, but don't think it merits a new thread completely.
For example, I'll start us off. Saw a very clean S63 while walking my dog today... definitely doesn't warrant it's own pictures thread, but still an enthusiast car that is worth sharing!
Lets try and keep this thread ACTIVE and CLEAN!
Car Spotting PHOTO/VIDEO Thread: Random pic/vid of the day!
It does it every time after a couple minutes of being on. Started out of the blue this week. I had not added any software or hardware. I ran defrag & chkdsk & did a system restore. None of it helped. What is wrong w/this thing?
A photo of a young woman and her bae, or boyfriend, speeding at 180 KMH, or 111 MPH, before they both crashed and overturned the car was all uploaded to her Snapchat story. Screenshots were taken of all four snaps and then shared on Reddit by AbrogateAnon.
The first snap shows the happy couple in the car, the second shows the speed, the third shows an apparently overturned car, and the fourth shows the young woman with injuries including blood streaming down her face.
Redditors immediately cried foul, but Redditor Meunderwears did some snooping and apparently its all real. They shared this photo of the girl at the hospital receiving treatment.
I was turning out in a parking lot not paying attention and a I hit a curb, i got out of my car to see what happened and this came off from under my car, can someone tell me what this is? I drive a 2007 323i sedan
