Another new guy!

dimanche 31 août 2014

Hey folks, figured I'd post an intro thread and say hello officially. I just traded in our 2014 328d for a 2010 X5M. I honestly had been looking for an M-Sport 50i, but the price on those was crazy high, and this M came in right around the same price. We traded a 2012 X3 M Sport for the sedan, but the sedan was just too small. So, back into an SUV, this time the one we (I) wanted... :D

Anyway, the vehicle is in pretty good shape, low miles (32K) and cosmetically beautiful. Has a couple of tasteful mods, some not as much... I plan to take care of a few things to make her 110% and then a few more mods until she's "perfect". :) Of course, there are two concerns I have, one is minor, the other has me a little stressed. We test drove the truck a couple weeks ago, and then went down to pick it up. I did a good city drive when I first looked at it, and it felt good. But after picking it up and putting some miles on her (drove it to Key West for the weekend) we noticed a pretty loud clunk over bumpy city streets... Has me kind of nervous, but haven't had a chance to look at it yet... Also, the Homelink isn't working... No response at all and the little LED doesn't light up... (fuse is good). Not sure on that one...

Otherwise it feels ok and everything appears to be in order. This vehicle is for my wife, so just hope it turns out to be reliable.

Anyway, thanks for the read (long I know, sorry)...

Aftermarket Quad Exhaust for 228i?

Hi!

Does the underbody layout of the 228i allow for the installation of a functional quad exhaust system?

I like symmetry more than the one-sided exhaust look.

Thanks!

It's possible to buy a mppk somewhere in Europe and install here in Brazil?

Rear roll bar

Just out of curiosity, are the rear roll bars on the e89 designed to go up in case of a roll-over situation, or are they stationary? Can't seem to find anything on that in the manual or the internet.

Trunk mount meth kit leaking denatured alcohol

Forgive me if this has been discussed...I've searched and not found anyone with any denatured alcohol specific issues...

So I recently got my turbos replaced under goodwill warranty, and coincidentally was about out of meth. I left all mods on when taking her in for the replacements, so obviously is was curious if they would reconnect the meth system connections all correctly back to the procede.

I've noticed lately I could also get through a gallon or so of meth in a 15 mile commute, with lots of spirited driving, but not sure it's a related data point or not, but I was concerned of a leak somewhere, but never caught anything.

Anyways, got the car back with new turbos, filled the meth tank, tried to go for test drive and car wouldn't start :mad0259:

Next day get car towed to dealer and find that coincidentally starter went out... Next day pick up car with new starter, check meth tank, still full... Great.

Change to map 4 and blow through a gallon of meth on the drive home.

Today I update to v5,(v4 was working better for me with failing wastgate issues), get a couple gallons of denatured alcohol at Ace to tide me over until I can get a refill of meth on Tuesday, fill up at the parking lot (80/20 or so) and test out v5 meth performance.

Got home, again tank was mostly empty, so I refill with again (80/20 or so mix ), so it's all set for next rides. A couple hours later the garage is filled with the nasty smell of denature alcohol, the meth tank empty, large puddle of alky under the trunk, a few small drip size puddles under where the meth line (fuel line route) runs under drivers side, and the under belly cover that protects the fuel line is literally eaten away in a line over most of where the fuel lines run...

After cleaning...to try and diagnose, I hoped to reproduce issue with 100%water mixture, so fill quarter tank with water only. Go for a drive and let it spray in brief spurts, but enough to use it all, get back, refill with another quarter tank of water and there is no leaking taking place at all....:confused2

I probably need to debug by running fuel spray manually into a container, and monitor meth line under car while doing so for leaks... But that doesn't explain why denatured alcohol would somehow all leak out of the meth tank after powering down the car, and why water would not.

Is it possible the alcohol can seep through connections or joints where water or meth cannot? Something to do with refilling tank with alcohol immediately after some spirited driving, or overfilling the tank and not leaving room for alcohol expansion? Ive never had a problem of the tank leaking anything while sitting unused, until filling with the alcohol.

Is it possible that denatured alcohol could eat its way through the under belly cover in one ride?

I'm scared I might have rodents and don't know it, maybe they ate through the cover and nicked the meth line? I've no other evidence of rodents. I still need to remove the cover and investigate further, and was expecting to do that with the water I added to find the leak, and then nothing leaked. But would rodents somehow be attracted to a meth or fuel line to make that the precise location they would gnaw through to get above a cover?

I'm guessing I have a leak somehow tht has gradually been eating at the cover, that I didn't know about, but that doesn't explain how filling with alcohol would result in a full on tank leak, when the tank is holding water fine, and there was no evidence of any leaking, fluids, alcohol smell, right around the tank mount itself.

Anyways, I'd love to read anyone's insight... I'm a bit baffled, and don't want to dump a gallon of alcohol again just to watch first hand how it happened... I'll update when I learn more, in case anyone sees similar problems some day.

My car started production! (and an intro)

I wanted to share the news that my car started production this week with people who shared my enthusiasm, because my girlfriend couldn't seem to care less lol.

A little about me: my name is Saxon, and I'm a software engineer living near Boulder, CO. I grew up driving a beat to hell 1993 325is, and despite the interior falling apart in it, it was incredibly fun to drive. That car started my passion for BMW, which led to my most recent purchase, a 2015 BMW M235i! This will be my first new car, and I'm really excited for it to arrive. I've enjoyed reading this forum for the past month, and I look forward to contributing photos and info once my car is delivered.

About the car:

2015 M235i

6MT

Estoril Blue II

Coral Red interior with brushed aluminum trim

Premium, Technology, and Cold Weather packages

HK sound system

Enhanced USB and BT

M performance pedals

I'm also planning on adding the M performance shift knob, black grills, and body color painted mirror caps myself.

Thanks for reading!

M Car Day @ Griot's - Sun, 9/7/14

vendredi 29 août 2014

Roll call of who is going to M Car Day at Griot's Garage in Tacoma this year?

I am going with my VO 1M. Driving down from Redmond on the morning of. Last year there were a handful of VOs and a couple AW ones. I still have yet to see a BSM 1M in person - so if you own one or know anyone that does, please try to get them to come!

What else is showing up?

door pops open when driving

I took my car in to the dealership because the door would pop open when driving. We would drive and usually after making a turn, the outside door would make a popping sound and the door open indicator would turn on. The dealership said they didn't know what the problem was but said they would replace some wire (they said that is what BMW is telling them to do). I got my car back, but it has the same problem. Has anyone else had the problem with their X5 and what did you do to fix it?

Duraflex M3 body kit?

Anybody running this m3 aftermarket body kit. I know duraflex was pretty reputable for hoods on my fbody car but i was wondering if anyone is running these kits

http://ift.tt/1wQuA26

I know it says slight modification. Wondering what that entails.. Anyone have experience with this kit? I even found it for half price...

Does the front bumper work with stock 335 fenders or will i need the widebody m3 fenders..

I honestly want the liberty walk bolt on fenders but i dont know where to find them or what wheel fitment to go with. Ill be purchasing gts m3 18" repros

seeking suspension guru knowledge

09 328i coupe with 74k miles on it...just started getting a very slight steering wheel shake at 50 MPH.

You can really only feel it right at 50 Mph. Do I need to replace the front control arm bushings?

Can some suspension guru explain why this is the symptom of worn bushings, or if not that, what it is a symptom of?

thanks...

M5 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2

I'm going to be needing to change my tyres on the beast soon. Managed 8,000 miles out of the Michelin Super Sports, probably can get another 1-2k out of them.

I've heard great things about the cup 2's - they have a deeper tread pattern than the original cups (which I had fitted to my CSL) are better in the wet and last longer, and I love the tread pattern on them. Problem is the sizes don't match.

I'm running on the 19's fronts are 265/40 and rears are 295/35. You can get Cup 2s in the correct front size but rear is only available in 295/30 or 325/30.

Does anyone know if:

1. having a 30 profile instead of 35 will make any difference or if it can be fitted

2. can 325's fit on the rear wheel and again having 30 profiles can it work

Thanks very much and if any of you out there have tried anything other than the Michelin Super Sports, please let me know, cheers

Running temps of oil gauge

I recently got my car back from the BMW dealership with a new firmware flash on the ecu and gearbox etc.. According to them , this may resolve the issue that I am experiencing with my gearbox.

Since I got the car back , I noticed that the running temps are on 105 degrees , previously it never hit 100 degrees unless I gave it a lot of WOT .

Can some of the uk members with a degrees C gauge let me know what there normal running temps are please .

When I was at the ring in Germany , it never went above 105 degrees and that was several laps around the F1 track .

Thanks

Custom S Pipe

Right now I have the worst S pipe known to man where my secondary cat delete is.. now, im going to a shop to fabricate a better one. Is there a certain design that will maximize effectiveness? (Its going to feed into a PE)..like should it be one Pipe instead of two, or should I just keep the dual pipe design?

Audison or MS8 - Neither

I experimented with many many variations of Equalizing and Normalizing tracks using Audacity and the results are amazing!

Has anyone else tried this ?

Opinions needed asap on ass

I have my car in for service. I have coded the ass to be off when starting the car as it's real annoying, rough and activates when not supposed to (like when I'm doing low speed maneuvers such as parking the car in my garage).

So question is should I let them take a look at it, the most likely answer being a software update. I would assume then I will lose all my coding.

So for something I'm unlikely to use should I even bother?

Black OZ Superleggera III + tires

I bought this car from a forum member last summer

These wheels are a bit too aggressive for my taste so I want to sell them. I would prefer to sell the tires with them because I'm going to switch to 18's

Wheels:

Black OZ Superleggera III (19"x8.5" Front/20"x10" Rear)

Tires:

F: Good Year Eagle f1 225/35R19 88Y

R: Michelin pilot super sport 285/25ZR20 93Y

So I know very little about these wheels, other than their price on Tire Rack. The wheels are in beautiful shape, so I'm going to price the set at 1,400 (wheels and tires) + shipping.

I have searched all over the wheels and can't locate the offset, but I'm assuming that if they are fitting on my car there shouldn't be a problem on m3

If anyone can direct me to where offset might be marked I'd be happy to look further.

Got my X4 today and I have a question about the Cluster

mercredi 27 août 2014

Guys

I got my 2015 X4 3.5 M Sport today..

My Cluster has a screen thats smaller than the one in my 2015 X3.

The X4 Cluster Screen goes from the center then to the right.. The X3 screen is the whole bottom of the cluster and I expected the X4 to have at least the same Cluster..

I ordered the Nav Package in the X4 along with Premium and just about all the options you could order. Nothing said in the ordering system that I forfeited the nicer cluster.

I have 30 miles so far and Im in love but this cluster thing has me confused and thinking maybe they put the wrong cluster in the car ?

Is that possible ?

2012 M-sport 128i (E82): Market value vs lease buy back price

I'm asking this without doing any homework. Just want to see if anyone know this off their heads. How's the resale value on this car now, comparing to its lease buy back price? Is it a good deal? My car is nearing the end of lease. Should I buy it and sell/trade in? Or should I just do a lease return? What do you think?

Adaptive Suspension...meant for comfort?

i know this topic has been beaten to death and there are several threads which ive already read on this issue but those guys are far too smart and technical for me. i dont really care how the system works and getting ready to place the order soon. ive test driven a non AS car but not one with it. hard to find dealers with both on the ground and dont want to do the whole song and dance.

i just want to know one simple thing...does this option give me a harsher and more jarring ride than the non AS option?

i drive an e92 zcp with the edc and everytime i start the car i make sure to set it to the sport setting. i feel the bumps and the teeth chattering harshness because i leave it on 100% of the time. i cant stand comfort mode. the harsher the more jarring the ride, the better for me.

would i be better off getting non AS or AS and pushing the Sport+ button everyday?

Driver Assistance??

Hi

I got the free option Driver Assistance in my car, but what features are in that option and how does it differs from the Driver Assistance plus option

Another newbie with a car on order.....

So, after a few months of research and many hours spent on here I have recently ordered my 320D Tourer and coming from a Mondeo company car I literally cannot wait :-D.

M Sport

Estoril Blue

M Sport Plus pack

Adaptive Suspension

Interior Comfort Pack

Full black panel display

Black leather with high gloss and brushed aluminium.

Currently have business media option ticked but those gadgets are tempting me to get the Business Pro instead.....still time to change as not in production yet.

This forum has been great so far so I'm looking forward to contributing more once the car arrives.

Cheers...

Return of the Notorious N52 Lifter Tick!

Has anyone had their lifters replaced and the ticking has gone away only for the ticking to return 1-2 years later? Well, that's exactly what has happened to me. I started her up about 2 weeks ago to move her into the driveway and wash her but she didn't tick back then. Having the car basically sit for about 3 weeks due to vacation, work and slowly detailing the car, I finally started her up today for a drive. Lo and behold, the ticking has come back.

I've moved away from the Rochester, NY, where I originally purchased the CPO car from a BMW dealership. Will I have any problems getting this repaired here in Charlotte, NC?

Finally Took Some Test Drives

As some of you may remember from my first thread here, I was originally undecided between the M235i or the 435i, along with RWD and xDrive. After enough looking around and getting feedback and opinions from members here, I was pretty dead set on a M235i and RWD. Well, I finally got the opportuninty to take some test drives this weekend at BMW's Un4gettable Test Drive Event at my dealer up in Knoxville. Easily one of the best Saturdays I've had in awhile. :D Free smoked-on-site barbecue, burgers, lemonade, and sweet tea, along with getting to test drive a few pretty awesome cars. Really opened my eyes, so to speak.

This dealer doesn't have a M235i on the lot. However, they did have a 228i with all of the M and performance packages/options, and they let me take it out for a drive through some mountain backroads and on the freeway. First of all, this thing kicked up a lot quicker than I expected. Still not as quick (speed-wise) as I would like, but impressive, nonetheless. It looked a little bit smaller on the outside than I expected, and it wasn't exactly as pretty as I had hoped. While it definitely had more interior room than my Z does, I wasn't exactly impressed with how tight it felt on the inside as well. Not bad, by any means. But a little smaller than I was hoping. I had it in Sport + mode the entire time, and driving it on the backroads, it seemed to have more body roll than I had hoped (something that I'm sure would be different with the M235i). Definitely not a bad car, but I was a little disappointed, to say the least.

Afterwards, I wanted to at least drive something with xDrive to see if it was as bad as I had heard. Took a 335i with xDrive out for a drive in both Sport + mode on the mountain back roads and Comfort mode on the freeway. To my surprise (after hearing all about how much it takes away from the driving experience), it was nowhere near as bad as I had expected. Still a VERY fun car to drive in the twisties, but seemed a little difficult to control at times (understandable, coming from only RWD experience). However, I did feel like I didn't have to work as hard in the corners and that the car sort of pulled and pushed itself through without worrying about the rear end kicking out. I was pretty impressed, but I still believe I'll be going with RWD.

Now, I had to at least take a 435i for a spin, seeing as how it was what I was originally looking at even before the M235i. They gave me one in Alpine White, with a bunch of M performance options added on (exhaust, carbon fiber bits and pieces, brakes, etc.). And well...all I can say is WOW. This thing fit like a glove. I was thoroughly impressed, in literally every aspect. I thought I'd see how she puckered up on the freeway (little to no traffic at the time), so I put her in Sport + mode and kicked in the throttle, and holy shit she picks up HARD. Took her up to 140 from an 80 roll in no time. And on the twisties? Less body roll than the 228i with the performance options. Pretty solid/tight suspension too (much to my liking, closer in similarity to my Z). Quick throttle in and damn good/hard/smooth braking. It honestly didn't look or feel like a big, luggy car, like I had been thinking. Not to mention, the interior was noticably better, and it was much roomier. It did feel a little wide on the road, but nothing overbearing. To be honest, it's actually made my decision a good bit harder now, since I'm going back to looking at this, as well as the M235i.

When I got down to numbers with the sales manager, I was told that if I wanted a M235i built to my specifications, he would be able to get an allocation to build around October, but I wouldn't see the car until the end of December. Something I wasn't too thrilled about, but not a deal breaker, by any means. But this would also mean that the $1,000 Un4gettable incentive wouldn't apply. But he would also be able to throw in ANY of the M performance parts (carbon fiber bits, wheels, BBK, interior bits, etc.) and incorporate them into the lease. However, he also had a couple of M235i's from other dealers that he could get ahold of, but there would be a couple of things here and there that it might not have that I wanted. He also made me aware that he could get me a 435i built to have whatever I wanted on it, including any of the M performance stuff (factory tune, BBK, wheels, carbon fiber bits, etc.), and I would have it by October (what I was originally shooting for). I'll have to make a decision sometime this week, so it's something that I'll have to think on pretty hard. I haven't had the chance to drive a M235i yet, but I may head to a dealership a few hours away to do just that on Saturday before pulling the trigger one way or the other. On other thing I'm surprisingly looking into now is a M4, considering a fully loaded 435i with all of the performance options I'm wanting is up around the M4 price terriroty. So it's something I'll be thinking on.

It was definitely an eye-opening experience all in all, and I'm very happy that I had the chance to take these cars out for a good drive. :)

Sedan or coupe. Which handles better? Feels tighter?

Don't beat me up, relatively new on the forums, but I've owned 7 BMW's. Never had two at the same time till now. Currently I have an e90 328, and an e92 335. Power aside, I can't help but feel like the sedan has a more solid, predictable feel. Just want opinions based on the configurations I've stated. Realizing the sedan is less powerful, therefore feels more confident cornering. Not trying to stir things up, I love them both, just curious what other BMW enthusiast opinions are.

Australian M3 buyers, help please!

Hi all

Looking to join the M3 club in the next 4-6 months (Depending on delivery or floor stock) and i just want to get an idea of the prices my Aussie brethren have paid.

So if you would be to kind to reveal either via replying or a PM what price you paid for your M3/M4 or what % discount you received.

If you are in Sydney what dealership was it from?

In Australia they start at $171,000 for an M3 drive away so obviously I want to try to get the best price I can. I have been to 1 dealership so far but i was offered a 1% discount off the drive away price and was told there is not much room for movement.

Just wanting to confirm/disprove this. Help is much appreciated, thanks!

ED No Front Plates Upon Delivery

Hey all,

Does anyone know if the notes we leave in the car requesting for no front plates or leaving the euro plates in the car make it all the way back to the states for the dealer to see? Has anyone ever had any experience with this? I am extremely worried that my dealer will drill holes for the front plate once it reaches them since I have heard that this specific dealer usually installs front plates on every car. I have told the dealer not to drill holes, but I am afraid they won't remember, so I am planning to leave several of these notes throughout the car when I drop it off at port hoping that they will see it.

FS: N54 Forge diverter valves

I am selling my practically new N54 forge DVs - all hoses and clamps included. These have less than 500 miles on them, YELLOW springs are already installed because I was running Stage 2 on my N54.

I totaled my N54 on 8/11/14, which is the only reason I'm selling these. I now have a 2011 N55 so I don't need the forge DVs anymore.

$230 includes shipping to continental U.S. - I will ship outside of that but at buyer's expense.

Again, YELLOW springs are currently installed, and I will include the GREEN springs with the package, just in case you're running on stock boost levels.

As for packages i need the idrive system and would love msport. Im willing to pay around 24k give or take a thousand and would be willing to travel to see the car depending on how far. Thanks guys let me see what you've got.

Question on tire pressure

Hey all,

Just a quick question as I was curious:

I have a 2012 f30 328i base. It has the base 17" wheels, and HAD the factory installed Bridgestone Turanza RFT, which were absolutely horrible. I went through all 4 in the first 6 months of owning the car.

Anyway, I ended up swapping to Continental DWS tires, and am not sure what the tire pressure needs to be. I got the same size tire, except this time they arent RFT's. As per the manual/door jam, the car needs to have 31 psi in all 4 tires, which is what I always maintained. My question is whether I need to adjust the tire pressure to something else because of the change in brand/type of tire (non-RFT)? I thought I was supposed to keep the same PSI, however everytime I bring it to the dealer they seem to fill my tire up to 40-43 psi (which gives it a different, not as "planted" ride) and I end up bleeding the air out until it gets to the right PSI.

Is that the right thing to do?

Can anyone guide me in the right direction?

Brand of tire jack

Which tire jack do you use when changing wheels/tires in the m5? I used the spare wheel jack from the x5 and it took a lot of elbow grease. It made me wonder whether the x5 one is appropriate for the m5. Thanks in advance.

BMW is killing the MT

BMW claims to offer MT free of charge. But in reality, the only way to get the MT in a new BMW is by custom ordering a brand new car, which carries a cost premium. It's frustrating to go to a BMW lot and not be able to find a single BMW with MT. I wish I could go to a BMW dealership and have 15 different manual transmission BMWs to choose from. BMW claims that consumers don't want MT, but I think that a lot of that is caused by BMW purposefully not giving the consumer enough good choices to buy a manual.

What kind of music is the F30...?

Amusing blog by James Ruppert in Autocar:

Traffic snarl-ups seem to be all the more irritating at this time of the year, when the weather can be exceptionally humid. However, the really important thing is to have a good line in distraction while you wait for something to happen.

My own bizarre contribution to in-car entertainment is deciding what musical genres certain cars are. Yes really.

Bear with me: in the broadest possible terms, small hatchbacks are pop music. Family hatches like the Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Insignia are middle-of-the-road easy listening. Sports cars are rock. A Caterham would be thrash metal and a white van full-on death metal.

Many complicated luxury cars are progressive rock, but then again plenty of them are inoffensively classical.

The fun bit is getting specific. A Lexus LS is surely middle-of-the-road maestro James Last. That would make a GS Richard Clayderman and an IS Andre Rieu. But should that really be the Mercedes-Benz S, E and C-class?

For me the BMW 7-series has always been Deep Purple because the band’s keyboard player John Lord had one. Otherwise I see a Jaguar XJ as Genesis – but that’s Peter Gabriel-era Genesis. I regard a lot of MPVs as pop reggae.

Some cars are attached to their era, so a Ford Escort XR3is in white are Shakatak. The E30-era BMW 3-series is late-1980s Spandau Ballet. Val Doonican is a Vauxhall Vectra. I see a series one Toyota MR2 as Pat Benatar. And by the end of all that mindless musical mental activity the traffic has cleared and I’m on my way home.

So is there any mileage in this musical madness, or should I keep what I think about in traffic jams to myself? Any idea what kind of car Vera Lynn might be?

Ok so it's clearly a quiet day in the office for me... but anyone got any suggestions as to what music/band the 3 series is?

BMW select and incentives

hello everyone. my m4 is going to arrive at the dealership on sat and I started to think bmw select program seems more attractive than the lease program which I was going to go with originally

my question is.... r u still able to receive new grad and un4gettable incentives with bmw select program?

any help will be appreciated. if thats the case then I wouldnt mind going with bmw select over penfed since I get $2000 credit which compensates for higher rate but has 2% lower balloon pmt than penfed

Warranty voided??

I'm sure this has been asked a bunch of times so my apologies for asking what may be an obvious question. Just looking for a definitive answer. Have a leased 2014 335 m-sport. Want to install intake exhaust and burger tuning. I know the burger is definite red flag but does the exhaust and intake void the warranty. One could always easily pull the burger out for routine maintenance even the intake for that matter... My plan was to put everything back to stock before returning the car. Then sell the aftermarket parts. I'm totally against the m-performance exhaust - can't see taking a hack saw to my stock pipe.

Best Tire Life

well my run flats lasted a total of 6 months. Need new rears and the front two have wear and one is bubbling. So time to upgrade! But im looking for tires that ill need to switch out a year so from now. Im not happy about buying tires twice a year. I have a long commute so i rack on the miles. Any suggestions? Just looking for best tire life / comfort.

anybody from Tucson done the turbo recalls? on n54 engine??

I started hearing the rattling when accelerating and letting go in park, I was wondering if anybody in town has replaced their turbos under warranty by the dealership in Tucson, AZ.

Burger Tune / Catless DPs / Air/Fuel Warning

I took my car to the dyno shop today. It's currently setup with Burger Stage 1 tune, catless downpipes, and Eisenmann mid-pipes, and Eisenmann Race mufflers. The tune is set to +3 which is what they recommend. We were reading the air/fuel from the tail pipe because I don't have a bung welded in right after the downpipes.

We started to do a pull and we let off of it because the air/fuel was reading at 14.58 which is too damn high (should be around 12). I am going to weld a bung into the exhaust pipes (right after downpipes) so we can get a more accurate reading next week when I re-visit the dyno shop. I forgot my cable to hook to the burger box so I couldn't lower the setting on the box (yes, I win moron of the year award for forgetting the cable).

If you are running catless downpipes and have the Burger tune set to +3 you are RUNNING TOO LEAN and you are asking for a shit-storm of problems with your engine. Lower it down!

I will update the thread next week once I have the bung in place and re-visit the dyno shop.

420d GC finally here

After only 6 weeks of waiting for the plates paperwork :mad0259:, yesterday I finally got my Gran Coupe :happyanim:

I hoped to be the first one in Spain to have one  (probably being the first one to order it back in early April), but yesterday there was a family getting his GC from the same dealer. However, I was the first one to get out of it

I didn't see many AW versions yet (nor any F36 with the EU standard M interior), so I hope you enjoy the pics.

Regarding the ride, I only did 50km so far, so these are just my first impressions:

  • My previous BMWs were an E46 Coupe 2.2 followed by an E89 Z4 23i. In respect to the latter, the GC of course feels completely different. Seating position is higher (even if it is a coupe). The car feels much bigger, especially when parking it: even if external dimensions are not that longer, I guess this is mostly due to the different driver seat position and the presence of back seats, which gives you the feeling of having a longer car (wrt to Z4). Nonetheless, the car is firm around the corners, way better than the 3GT I test drove.

  • This is my first diesel engine car (even if I drove many diesels in the past). I certainly miss the my old straight 6: the sound was just incredible! However, this car has torque! And doing 150km/h at 6l/100km is not bad at all ;)

  • To summarise, my first impression is that I miss the Z4 but give me some more time to get used to it (also when I changed from the E46 to the E89, I needed some time to fall in lone...). However, as a family car the GC looks gorgeous, nice to drive and very practical (again, to be tested properly...)
