FS: Breitling Chrono Cockpit

mercredi 30 septembre 2015

Hey guys and gals,

I am looking to sell my Breitling Chrono Cockpit that I purchased from Philippes Watches in Beverly Hills, CA. Box and papers are not included with the watch. Please let me know if you would like to see additional pictures.

Condition: There is 1 scratch on the bezel and marks from normal wear on the bracelet/clasp. This was my daily piece for probably a bit over 1 year. Has not seen much wrist time since I picked up my Rolex GMT Master II.

I am looking to get $2,500 for this piece. I welcome a face to face transaction or payment via wire transfer. At this time, I do not want to entertain lower offers because I would just rather keep the watch.

As a reference, I am becoming more active in the LA watch community and you can check out my instagram for proof: @alex.bski ( http://ift.tt/1O3OBZq )

Market survey: Crowdfunding for the car enthusiast?

I thought you guys would be a good group to survey since after all, we're all car enthusiasts here. I'm interested in your thoughts as to whether or not you see a crowdfunding market for not only new cars but used cars, OEM parts and of course aftermarket parts?

If you're not familiar with crowdfunding, crowdfunding is a method for people to raise money from friends, family and outsiders for pretty much anything. While I understand owning a car is a privilege, you might not get the same financial help from your supporters as you would with someone campaigning for medical bills their insurance won't cover. However, if someone who has cancer had a wish to drive a Ferrari for a day then maybe a crowdfunding campaign for a Ferrari driving event would make more sense?

Either way, interested in hearing your thoughts on this.

Mike

2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet a "Flagship Land Yacht!"

That'll Work...!

Quote:

Starting up top – literally – this big-boned beauty features a three-layer fabric roof to keep that old harpy mother nature at bay. It can be operated at speeds up to 37 miles an hour, taking just 20 seconds to fold away or redeploy.

Putting the roof down reveals what the company describes as a “yacht-like atmosphere,” which makes sense because the S-Class sedan on which this cabriolet is based has arguably the nicest interior in its segment. Top-shelf materials abound, as does tasteful design and tons of technology.

Keeping occupants comfy-cozy is a groundbreaking climate-control system. It’s fully computer networked and sports 12 sensors as well as 18 separate actuators. The car’s AIRCAP wind deflectors reduce turbulence and noise while the AIRSCARF system provides neck-level heating for maximum comfort. Beyond all of this, there are heated seats and optional heated armrests. Hell, you could probably drive one of these cars through a blizzard with the top down and still sweat your ass off.

S550 Cabriolet models sport a 4.6-liter V8 engine that churns out 449 horsepower along with 516 lb-ft of torque. They’re matched to a nine-speed automatic transmission for maximum driving pleasure and fuel efficiency.

Beyond this, the company will also offer a Mercedes-AMG version of this beast, the S63 4Matic Cabriolet. It features a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 with 577 horses and 664 lb-ft of torque. This variant can hit 60 miles an hour in just 3.9 seconds.

Despite losing its roof, the S-Class cabriolet’s body is supposedly just as torsionally rigid as the Coupe model on which it’s based. Despite sharing numerous components, a few special parts help up the stiffness of the droptop version.

As for all-important pricing and availability information, I can’t tell you when the new S-Class Cabriolet will go on sale nor what it will cost but later and A LOT are probably safe guesses.

Pricing is yet to be announced...

Derrick Rose injured again!

Turns out in the very first practice of the year he got elbowed and broke his orbital bone in his eye/face and will need surgery expected to be out 2-3 weeks. Obviously elbow to the face is not his fault and can happen to anybody but damn it man this dude is like a magnet for injuries...

I guess one of the good things about SoCal not getting snow is that we can run our summer wheels/tires all year round. :D Seriously though, I hope winter isn't too rough on you guys this year; it's been pretty bad these past years.

Navigation system Professional.

I'm a little puzzled by the operation of the Navi system in my 2016 X3. The system was ordered with and I can confirm that it has Live Traffic updates however data received from the updates doesn't seem to be effective as the Navi system always guides me along the busiest route - no suggested alternatives.

Case in point; Across the top of the GTA are two highways, the 401 and the 407. The 401 is a free road, the 407 a toll road. At the start point of my route (Mississauga to Pickering) the two highways are only a kilometer or so apart. During rush hour, the time of my travel, highway 401, in comparison to highway 407, is always very slow between Mississauga and the Don Valley Parkway. The Navi system is set to use toll roads however it continually directs me to the 401. If I ignore the Navi system and enter the 407 at the west end of my trip the Navi system directs me back to the 401 at each major crossroad.

When traffic on the 401 is heavy why does the Navi system direct me there instead of the 407. I thought manually selecting an optional route would do the trick however any optional route offered by the system directs me back to the 401. Is there a way to override this behaviour?

BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R at the BMW Concept Store in Paris, France

So I came back from my honeymoon a few weeks ago and lo and behold, I see the BMW CSL Hommage Concept being delivered to the BMW concept store in Paris, France (Ave. George, off Champs-Élyseés). Normal opening hours was from 10AM, but they had stopped me from letting me in because they had a "special delivery". I did stick around for a little bit to see what was going on. I'm glad I did.

If anyone is in the area, visit the store and you'll see it right in front (unless they had moved it since).

Edison Concours d'elegance - October 18th, West Orange, NJ

http://ift.tt/1O03H1P

The first Edison Concours d’Elegance, to be held October 18, 2015 (9:00 am to 4:00 pm) on the historic grounds of Glenmont, the home of Thomas A. Edison, will be a spectacular event showcasing the best examples of classic cars from around the world. The Edison Concours, will be unique as it will be held at Glenmont, a National Historical Park, which is set within Llewellyn Park, the first planned community in America. Llewellyn Park was founded in 1857 and many of the great homes owned by Edison's neighbors, the Colgates, Stetsons, Chubbs and the Mercks, still stand within the park's idyllic 400 acres of landscaped woodlands.

The Edison Concours is an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of over 90 classic cars and Llewellyn Park and, at the same time, to explore and connect with some of our nation’s history of innovation and allow all to learn about our rich automotive heritage. The planners of this event are working with sponsors, volunteers and the Township of West Orange to produce this event, which will benefit three very worthy non-profit organizations: The Edison Innovation Foundation, The Llewellyn Park Preservation Foundation and The West Orange Scholarship Fund.

Thanks Technic.... for the memories!

Someone posted last night that he got banned ... i don't know why either. But I responded to the thread. Eventually the thread was deleted, and i'm guessing this one will be too. Lets see how long it takes :D

Just wanted to publicly acknowledge how helpful the dude was to all us BMW and especially audio enthusiasts who wanted to upgrade/mod our audio systems to something better. The guy was unlike other sponsors in that he was actually helpful and was more or less one of us - regular everyday joes who cared about our cars and wanted to help the community in providing timely information on how to do audio upgrades. Because he's been around so long and was so knowledgeable on these boards, he could at times be a little bit of an a** h*** but i guess theres some of that in all of us who own BMWs.

But that brings up another subject about sponsorship. I get the general idea in that sponsors are here to make money, and the forum owners need money to keep these boards running, so sponsors get charged a fee/subscription for the privilege/right to post their "ads" to a very targeted demographic they are trying to sell to. A match made in heaven.

But Technic was in a special category though... he was almost certainly a sponser, as everyone went to him for this audio harnesses, but he almost rode a fine line between a regular forum member as well. I'm guessing the ban was related to crossing over that line. But i don't know that for sure.

In any case, hats off to you bro! Hope they let you back in here, and thanks once again for all the informative stuff you've posted over the years. Most of them have been bookmarked!

Thanks Technic.... for the memories!

Complete waste of time

The X3 is truly a complete waste of time and space full of crap, this car standard are worst then old Dacia, I lost count of the times the car returned to the dealer, just back from dealer after replacing the climate control unites and cables, while leaving a parking space with half the car parked on top of a pavement 2 inch high, all fault warning come up with stability malfunction ABS and tyre pressure and all, got everyone off kids and wife, tried the car drivable with all the warnings on and steering as heavy as hell, BMW service tell me we can drive moderately as per message, of course the journey at hand was 200 miles, when we give it another go with everyone on board the ABS comes back kicking again, hence somehow ever one on trigger for it to start giving us hard time.
To cut story short I borrowed my brother car as the insurance only had the Hotel option for Sunday evenings, drove family home and went back to get the crap home to our dealer to find out the ABS sensors for front are bust need replacement.

So conclusion if you half park your X drive on a pavement, watch out you may damage the ABS system, for god sake this is meant to be an off road car, not a Ferrari.

We are never going back to an X car again; they feel cheap in comparison to our previous non x cars and my current F10, badly assembled, frankly they are a rip off at the price they charge for them, feel like burning the car or push is down a cliff, I wish I can afford to that.

FS: BMW Style 369

lundi 28 septembre 2015

Cleaned out some boxes, found my wife's OEM Style 369 19x8.5 square setup wheels. Would say they are a 9/10 due to having a small curb rash (pictured), hardly noticeable if you ask me. Rims are parted from the tires, do not include TPMS. Selling for $900 to the continental US (lower 48), buyer pays for shipping. Not firm on the price so if we need to work out a number let me know. Here some pictures I took about a month ago, thanks for looking. :party0030:
