Do spacers actually improve handling?

dimanche 16 mars 2014

From a physics geek perspective, let's think about this for a second. Imagine if you were riding a see-saw/teeter-totter. Let's say the guy on the other end is heavier. If you could lengthen your end of the board, you could lift him up a lot easier, because you've lengthened your "lever arm".

So, when you install spacers, aren't you effectively lengthening the "lever arm" that the wheel exerts on the suspension? If so, then I'm thinking it would actually make the ride SOFTER, and have more body roll, because that longer lever arm would make it easier for wheel motions to compress the shock & spring.

Agree, disagree?
