Driving through the wilds of Spain yesterday I was rewarded with the dreaded BMW 'something is about to fall off your car' warning tone. On looking down to see which 'prize' of those available I had been awarded, I was delighted to see ' Rear foglight bulb failure'. Of all the problems available, this was indeed a low grade one. Relief all round.
On examining the bulb I could see no obvious fault. It looked as new. ( And so it should - never having been switched on ). I removed it and re-seated it. The warning vanished. More relief and minor celebrations.
What I didn't realize was that the system was able to monitor the circuit whilst switched off. My car is indeed mightier than I thought.
