stuck in a little dilemma

dimanche 16 novembre 2014

Okay so I'm stuck on something and I'm getting stressed out from all the things I've seen in the last couple months regarding my car.

As of June my car was running perfect then I had a misfortunate family event and left the country for 45 days. I left my car alone as in just parked it and left. When I came back the car had a rough start of course because it hadn't been started in almost 2 months. I let it run for a bit then I drove it for about 2-3 weeks. I'm on the highway going home from king city (I live in Burlington) and as I get on the highway my car overheats and I had to get towed home. When I got home my battery was dead the car wouldn't start so my tow truck driver gave me a boost so it would start. After little diagnosing I came to the conclusion I needed a water pump and thermostat. I decide at this point to leave my car in winter storage and just fix it come spring. At this point I start my car once in a while just to keep the battery charge so it can start again.

NOW the best part where I stress...

I have recently read that the water pump needs a strong charge so it doesn't fail, I heard the water pump seeizes if you don't start your car on a day to day basis?

I'm stuck in this dumb situation and I'm still learning all the "neat" things our cars can do so now I have no idea what to do, if to order the water pump and change the battery or just change the battery myself.

Also I've been hearing about starters seizing up from not starting the car over period of time so now I have another headache if my starters going to go anytime.

PS. I start my car to this day once a week at least and it has a low voltage but it still does start, cars been sitting for 2 months now more or less almost 3 I have thermostat with me but I'm just trying to figure out what to order so I'm not wasting money for parts when I don't need them.

Car has 168.000km.

If anyone has any suggestion on what to do even advice wise that'd be great. I just feel like after losing a family member I've lost my car as well and its driving me nuts. Thanks for your help guys I do apologize for being a noob but we learn something new everyday.:mad0260::help::confused2
